Sorry, I’m slow at this. How do you return something you don’t want that you bought on ebay?

December 24th, 2012 5 comments

Well, I want to purchase a bag online from bluefly but if a bag turns out to be fake or not good, How do you return it? How do you return it and how does the company refund the money back to your credit card? Do you just go to the postal office and return it/ pack it up and return it? Does the money return back to the credit card?

Sorry, I’m15 years old, I don’t know how these stuff work! I don’t think my parents know either.

The only way the seller will refund your money is if the item is not what they advertised or it’s damaged. You cannot return it just because you don’t like it. Alot of times on Ebay the seller will mention what their refund policy is, you have to see if they will accept the item back if you aren’t 100% satisified, most ebayers don’t do that.

If they will accept it back then you just pay to ship it back to the seller and when they receive it back and you paid thru PayPal they will process a refund thru paypal and the money will be credited back to your account. Always ask questions of the seller BEFORE bidding on an item to prevent this happening in the future. It’s a real hassle when a buyer does this, it costs a seller time and money to sell and when you back out of a sale we lose money.

Read the rules of Ebay I believe you have to be 18 in order to purchase on Ebay because by bidding you are entering into a legal contract with ebay to purchase any item you bid on and if you’re under 18 you’re not old enough to enter into a contact.

how does the refund system work on ebay?

I’m planning on opening an ebay shop, if there were any refunds made through debit or credit card, how can I get the money back to the customer, same with paypal. Should I go on internet banking and refund the money back from that or is it more complicated than that?

For 60 days, Paypal has a refund button on each transaction. You click on it and indicate how much money should go back to the buyer and Paypal reverses that amount–including the reveral of the fees they charged you in the first place.

If you make a mistake, you should pay shipping both ways.
If they made a mistake, they pay for shipping.

BTW, don’t bother with a "shop" unless you have a 1000 items to list. While the listing fees go down (sort of, eBay has lots of sales), you pay extra for Final Value Fees *and* disappear from most searches. Store inventory only shows up on very narrow searches when less than 20 items come back from non-store listings.

The eBay stores that success are book sellers, stamps, china, crystal and silver. Items where people looking for the item type in the exact search description.

Why co. like EBay or Amazon does not have an instant messenger on their site?Is it a good idea to have one?

I’m just wondering if these companies ever thought of that as it could cut down the enquiries time and more sales can be closed at real time. Improve cash flow for Ebay(more transactions in a minute?),higher turn around time(lesser inventory?) for seller and buyers got the best deal instantly. Ok. this might only work for ‘buy it now’ items listed. please share your comment.

Having a method like that would be great for us as consumers but bad for eBay and amazon because then it’d be easy for a merchant on those sites to lure that customer away from eBay or amazon and make a sale outside where amazon and eBay make ‘0’ Profit. Thats just looking at the hard facts from a business stand point.

The other reason would be a security reason… a merchant could potentially take advantages of you through an instant messenger and eBay or similar companies wouldn’t be able to get your money back or it might be difficult.

However for personal business sites i think the concept of live help or chatting is great, that way you can ask a merchant directly about their products. 🙂

Ebay kicked me permantly off 4 trying to sell a purse & watch I thought real . No warning. How to get back on?

Ebay took down my site when listed a Rolex watch I had for sale because I did not have original papers for it. It was real. Then I put up a Gucci handbag and they took that down without any explaination. I put up a Tag Huge watch box that I personally had and decided to sell when I saw others on ebay for sale and that is when they took my account down saying I was selling a potential item that could be used for selling a fraud watch!!! You can sell the old ones, but not the ones that are made (in my case, in 1999.) !! I was selling it in good faith and did check the item out on ebay before I listed it. I had over 690 positives on my feedback. I now have lost all that, plus am permantley suuspended from ever selling on ebay again. I feel this injust that they did this and want to know if anyone has dealt with this or has any information on how to appeal. I did tender a signed a paper saying I wanted to be reinstated and sent them my licence and utility bill. They still refused me. HELP!

I think the only way you could get back on is if you get a receipt or appraisal of the items showing that they are authentic. Fax them to the same number that you sent the other information to. I don’t suggest you sign up a new account, because eBay has a way of linking you, even if it takes a little while.

If you are caught setting up a second account after suspension there will be absolutely no way of ever getting back on.

Don’t give up hope at this point. It just may require a little extra time and money to get back on. It’s worth it if you want to sell authentic items.

In the future don’t list anything that you don’t have documentation for. Include a scan of the documentation in your listing. Black out any personal information, but leave enough that the eBay reps can confirm that it’s not a fraud.

ebay: what is a final value fee credit?

June 14th, 2012 2 comments

I listed an item on ebay. But I needed to cancel all bids because the item is no longer for sale.
Someone bidded at the last second.
They declined me request to cancel the transaction
ebay have said to me:
"Cancel transaction case is now closed. You haven’t received a Final Value Fee credit yet."

What does this mean?
Thanks

In simple term – you wouldn’t get your money back. eBay added that little amount to their profit margin and told you nicely thanks for using eBay and paying them for nothing.

Am I responsible for misrepresentation on a sale of a vehicle when It was bought sight unseen?

May 29th, 2012 2 comments

I sold a vehicle on ebay auction site. I suggested to the buyer to have the vehicle inspected prior to sale. He declined. After purchase of the car, he now says I misrepresented the vehicle and wants his money back. I am not a dealer. Does this fall under The prudent care rule?
If the answer is "AS IS /WHERE IS" where is this written or implied?

To misrepresent the car, you lie about it. Did you do that? If so do the right thing. If you knew about some problemm but did not disclose it, you should still do the right thing. But if he assumed it had some accessory and did not ask, or if he thought that "no brakes" was "new brakes", then stand your ground. On eBay it is your feedback that determines your representation.
