Are cars at an Insurance Auto Auction repaired before being sold to the public?

December 24th, 2012 6 comments

hi im planning on buying a car from a local Insurance Auto Auction. I know that the vehicle is a salvage title and the pictures they have shown are the pictures of the cars damage, but i wanted to know if they repair the car before they put it up for bidding or do they sell the car damaged and the buyer has to repair the car.

THANKS

I somehow don’t think you really understand what a salvage title is, you want to play Russian roulette with your life go ahead.
If you went shopping for a chair that cost $100. and right next to it the identical chair $40. but the sticker said all 4 legs were broken at one point but now glued together and declared safe… THAT’S SALVAGE…how safe would you feel sitting on it, never mind going down the hwy at 70 mph.

As for buying at an auction read this link http://www.usedcartips.org/AUCTIONS.html and then you decide

What shipping service do I choose for selling on ebay?

December 14th, 2012 4 comments

I am new to selling on ebay.
There is a section where it says "Shipping Destination Service."
The item I am selling is a simple trading card, which I will be sending in a regular, letter-sized envelope, that I just put stamps on and just put in the mailbox and let it be picked up.
So, which shipping service am I supposed to select?

You can ship any way you want. For something that small I would use the US postal service. Put a stamp or two on it, and have it insured, and then mail it. The insurance will be based on the value of the card, but it’s never that much. Good luck.

How can I avoid paying a speeding fine and not getting three points on my licence?

Please no sarcastic remarks like slow down, I have read them all. Just give me pure straight advice to try and get away with it.

There is a lot of assuming going on with many answers. Many states you can’t "take a class".

If you were pulled over via camera, you could easily go with the excuse that you have your car up for sale and the "test driver" must have gone too fast. You’d have to go to court to argue your case.

I would guess that you got pulled over. Three points probably means you were speeding over 10, maybe over 20. This is what you can do: Go to court on the day of your arraignment (that is the first time you appear). The DA’s will bring everyone forward one by one and try to avoid a court case by making many plea agreements. If you can afford to bump your ticket down to a lesser-point offense, you could easily say to the individual, "I was speeding, but not by 20 miles an hour. It was 10 according to my spedometer. I had cruise control set." Many times they will drop the charge down a bit just to avoid the added time they usually don’t have to see all these cases and burden the police officer with having to appear (taking him off the streets doing his job and putting him in court and still paying him).

If the fine is due by April 30th, you can go in there and say you’ve lost your job and are looking for one and don’t have any income or some other thing stating "I can’t pay this whole fine at this time" and they will spread out the payments. You can even appear before they are due to request more time… as long as you pay a few bucks here and there, they usually grant the time.

The worse thing about getting a ticket is getting screwed by your insurance company as, usually, you were speeding. Paying a speeding fine sucks, but paying an insurance company more for your mistake is complete BS. There is no context only the thought that "speed kills’ while driving too close is widely ignored and definitely causes many serious accidents.

If you were going 10 MPH over, you could purchase a used speedometer from eBay (if reasonable) or simply a cheap spedometer cable and bring the receipt to court and say your spedometer was broken. Usually you’ll wind up paying the fine, but the charge will be changed from "speeding" to "equipment inoperative". Same cost, no points, no insurance screw-over. I think most court houses don’t care as the insurance company typically doesn’t lobby every local government in the area…only state & federal levels!

Good luck. I’ve learned to ALWAYS go to that first appearance because they’ll often allow you to plead down. Sometimes they will even remove a charge if you say "I’m guilty of speeding, but not the turn signal violation." And you can even bring in proof of insurance that is faked in many states and they’ll fall for that. Luckily, I live in a state where proof of insurance isn’t needed and, oddly enough, insurance rates are cheaper.

Question on Ebay sales and seller adding fees after auction’s end??

July 19th, 2012 2 comments

Can anyone please send me a link from Ebay’s help site to answer this question: Is it legal for a seller to add extra fees into the shipping and handling of an item after the auction has ended? Provided that the listing did not mention any such extra fees?

I know that the seller cannot do this. I remember once seeing it written down and thinking "Why would any seller be that stupid?" Just my luck that it just happened to me. Seller charged a flat rate shipping, with no insurance availible. That’s ok, I didn’t want any….just a delivery confirmation. Now this seller is wanting extra money, which I know is because the items I purchased are worth far more than what she feels they are worth. I got a bargain!

I can’t seem to find it listed anywhere under the help section. I want to send this link to my seller as proof that I do not have to pay these extra fees.

If the seller ask for extra money then what is agree, he or she screw up. It too bad if they didn’t put in the correct amount, they shouldn’t be selling if it a big deal. If the seller complain that the bid was lower than what he or she expected, tough luck because they are going to learn their lesson.

If they refused to ship things then they better give you the refund or file a complaint.

eBay is a semi-legal binding auction. You and seller agree as eBay is a transaction system for auctioning.
