Where can I find lists of home being sold at auction?

January 13th, 2013 3 comments

I’m looking for local auctions of homes for either tax sales or foreclosures. I’ve checked out the local county website but nothing is available there except the auction process,no listings. I’ve checked the local paper for public notices, but nothing is listed there either.
There are numerous websites that list foreclosures and auctions that will take place on various dates, but without paying to join these websites I can only obtain limited amounts of info.
Basically I want to obtain this info myself without paying to join a website.

Try www.auctionzip.com it lists auction houses and what they are auctioning off that month, some auction houses list estate sales and home auctions. There is a tab for home auctions all around the US.

Can I Make Money Selling My Handmade Jewelry Designs On Ebay?

June 7th, 2012 No comments

If you’ve ever tried to sell your work on the tremendously competitive and crowded pages of Ebay, your quick answer to the above question may be no. But don’t be so quick to answer. If you keep these few things in mind, you can have a successful jewelry business on Ebay.
Before I started my website, http://www.a-zjewelrydesign.com/, I sold my jewelry designs exclusively on Ebay. And, as with any business, with an Ebay business, you need to have a business plan. The odds are against you on Ebay if you simply make a few pieces, list them, and hope for the best. Your chances are much better if you spend enough time to develop a significant inventory of several types of items that show your individual style. After all you may only have one chance with an Ebay buyer… if they visit your auctions, and you have only a few unrelated items up for sale, they may never come back. But, on the other hand, if they see a nice inventory of things that they would love to buy, they will bookmark your store.
You will also need a listing/sales strategy. There should be two types of items in your storefront:
Store Items: Have a well thought out inventory of items in your Ebay store. (These items will always be there at a fixed price.) All you need to do is make a sample, upload a photo, and remake the pieces as the orders come in. (Earrings are great store items.) Ebay has a low store-listing price of $.05 per listing, and a monthly $15 store fee. Remember, you will have to sell enough to cover this Storefront expense above and beyond the per piece profit, however.
Auction Items (or fixed price listings): These listings are much more expensive per piece, but, no will find your store without them! It may unnerve you to start a listing at $.01; but, your best bet is to start your auction listings low. Let me give you a typical example that I have seen a hundred times: Sue starts a choker at $9.95, because that is what she paid for the materials. Lisa starts the same choker at $.01. Sue’s item gets zero bids. Lisa’s item sells for $30. Here’s the lesson: The final bidder was willing to pay $30, but she was tempted by the idea that she could get it for nothing. Ebay buyers are always looking for a bargain!
Featured Listings: Another very important thing I learned is that you must have at least one Featured Listing at any given time. You pay a premium for Featured listings on Ebay ($19.95), but they put your listing in the top page of your category for the duration of the listing. Featured Listings are your best portal into this very competitive market of jewelry artisans. You cannot think of the expense of a Featured Listing as a selling expense against the one-featured piece, but as an advertising expense for all your listings and storefront. (For instance; if you have twenty auctions in a week and one is featured, you can consider that you’ve spent $1 per piece to get ebay buyers in the door to your store.)
You must understand that you will not get rich selling handmade jewelry on Ebay! I always felt that what I averaged per piece on Ebay was like wholesale prices. But – let’s face it – if you are selling through stores that resell your work, you will not be making retail on your work either. Plus, you will be running around, schlepping your work, and most likely leaving it on consignment with boutiques. After all, wholesale on ebay is pretty good when you’re able to work from home, list the things you want and make your own hours doing something you love!
The biggest mistake jewelry sellers on ebay make is to step into it too casually. You must have a certain amount of patience, and understand that there will be upfront expenses that will not come back to you immediately. (In what other business venture would we expect such a thing?). If you take the time to study Ebay, watch what the successful sellers are doing and develop your own inventory and a strategy – you can be successful on Ebay!

Make Easy Money on Ebay – How to Make Money Selling on Ebay

June 4th, 2012 No comments

Many people underestimate the potential of online ecommerce. You can sell anything from books to electronic to gardening equipment on the net. Ebay is the perfect marketplace to make easy money on ebay. With millions of dollars of transactions per day, you can make a full time living just by selling on ebay.

The first step to making money on ebay is to setup a seller account on ebay and if possible setup a storefront on ebay. It’s cheaper in the long run and you can put up more inventory for sale.

Ebay has made it very easy to setup your own store on Ebay. Even if you are not computer savvy, there are step by step guide that can guide you. After that, you need to learn how to advertise to attract targeted potential buyers to your auctions.

The key to learning how to make money on ebay is selecting the right ebay categories, the title and subtitle and the right keywords to attract visitors to your auction listings. There are various ebay tools such as the ebay research tool and other third party ebay research tools such as terapeak and hammertap that can assist you in this aspect.

Ebay also has several upgrade options to make your auction listings stand out but they cost money I would recommend you buy the upgrade to bold your ads at the minimum.

Another important aspect if you want to run a long term ebay business is your reputation. On ebay, it is transparent via the feedback option. Potential buyers can see the feedback from your previous customers and it can help you tremendously if you have a 100% positive ebay feedback.

There are several guides online that can teach you how to make easy money on ebay. Some provide genuine good information while many are just ebay scams and you should be careful who you learn from.

How To Make Real Money On Ebay

May 25th, 2012 7 comments

How many times have you heard this line? Unfortunately there are hundreds of people selling the “best” ways to make a ton of money on eBay. The truth is you can make a lot of money on eBay. There is not some secret formula or one way to do it.

In this article I will offer tips that could help your eBay selling. I believe the single most important thing you can do is to sell something you know. If you have a hobby or job that is related to your items, you would be very knowledgeable about your product and reduce research time.

If you do not have a hobby or job that is related to anything you can sell, do a search with the completed auction listings in the categories that are of interest to you and see how these things are doing. You can also check the Hot List on eBay that will give you a break down of the hot selling items.

Research articles on auction forums or auction information websites. There is a wealth of information out there that is free.
Check out the forums that are on eBay. These can give you information just by reading what other sellers are talking about.

If possible, try to find a niche product. An example of this is Ham Radio. I hold an advanced class amateur radio license. The United States Federal Government issues this. I got out of the hobby and decided to sell my radios. I sold every radio with no problems. Amateur Radio Operators (hams) are a specific group, looking for specific items. This makes selling so much easier.

Once you find the item(s) that are right for you concentrate on customer service. Make sure that all the items you ship are properly protected with bubble wrap or styrofoam spacers. I do not like packing peanuts because they are messy for the customer. Do not use newspaper for packing material. It does not work that well and just looks bad.

Once you have your item packed properly make sure you ship it promptly. Customers will appreciate this and remember you. Communication with the customer is very important. As soon as you can contact your paying customer and let them know exactly when you are sending the item (you should indicate this in your auction.) After you send the item contact them again and tell them it is on the way. Little things like this can give you repeat customers.

So where is the real money? The real money is in supply and demand. If you have something that is in demand it will sell. If you don’t it won’t. I know this is basic business, but it seems a lot of people have lost site of this for the quick, easy buck. Long lasting sales don’t happen over night. Market saturation also plays a big role.

The best approach to make “real money” on eBay breaks down like this: Know your product, research it and its sellers on eBay (how many, how much), use the recourses I listed above. There are reels of information on selling and buying on eBay on auction information websites, make your customers happy (good shipping, communication)

Knowledge is power. This is your greatest tool.

How To Buy Genuine Diamonds And Gemstones On Ebay

February 4th, 2012 3 comments

Purchasing a genuine diamond or gemstone – not a “faux” or “simulated” stone – on eBay can be a scary prospect. Unlike going to a jeweler, you can’t examine it in person and assess how it looks on your ring finger before you shell out your hard-earned cash. There’s the very real risk that you’re not going to get what you paid for.

But these concerns can be addressed by being a smart eBay shopper. After all, when you buy on eBay, the savings can be huge and you can find really unique jewelry items!

Before bidding on any diamond or precious gem (such as emerald, ruby or sapphire), make sure you understand how value is determined for that particular stone. There’s no excuse for not being an educated shopper. If eBay sellers don’t address these characteristics in their auction listings, click on the “Ask seller a question” link and get answers before you bid!

Determining Value

For diamonds, that means evaluating the four Cs: clarity, color, carat and cut.

Clarity is the term used to describe the size and number of inclusions (minute traces of non-crystallized carbon) in a diamond. Most are invisible to the naked eye; the larger and more numerous the inclusions are, the less valuable the diamond.

Diamond color grades start at D and go up through the alphabet. Truly colorless stones, graded D, are extremely rare and very valuable. The closer a diamond is to being colorless, the rarer and more valuable it is and the more it will shine.

Carat is how the weight of a diamond is measured. The larger the diamond (the rarer) the more expensive per carat it will be. Carat refers to weight, not size or diameter, although diamonds of identical weight can look larger or smaller depending on the cut.

The cut of a diamond determines how it refracts and reflects the light; a well-cut diamond will seem brighter and properly cut.

To find the best diamond that fits within your price range it essentially comes down to a compromise between the 4Cs and your consideration of which factors are most important to you.

There is a “fifth” C, or Certificate. A certificate diamond has a “report card” that grades the four traits mentioned above, including listing specific items about that particular diamond that are unique to it. A certificate goes a long way towards establishing the trustworthiness of an online diamond seller.

Gemstones such as rubies, emeralds, and sapphires usually undergo treatments to enhance color and fill cracks. The jewelry industry considers treatment of these three gemstones standard practice. Such treatments include oil and resin treatments; heat treatment, and chemical or “diffusion treatment.”

Most eBay sellers will provide details about any treatment applied to their gemstones. If they don’t, request the details before bidding on the item.

As you can see, what to look for specifically depends on the type of stone you’re looking for – and it’s not possible to explain all that in one article – but this is the type of info to look for, especially if you intend to spend very much money.

Finding Deals

Finding a deal on a diamond or expensive gemstone requires some counter-intuitive thinking. You’re looking for listings that won’t attract a lot of bids. Lots of bids mean lots of competitors and a higher final price.

How to find these less-popular listings? Try searching for misspelled words (e.g. “dimond” instead of “diamond”). Look for items that end at odd times (say, 3:00 AM), when most bidders are in bed. And listings without pictures don’t attract as much attention, either – you may find a real “gem” by taking the time to look.

Who to Trust and What to Look For

As with any eBay auction, the seller’s rating is extremely important. This is an aggregate score based on how other customers have rated them. Look for sellers with a very high rating (I suggest over 98%) and look at the customer feedback they’ve gotten. Sellers with lots of happy customers are pretty reliable.

Second, check for any return or exchange policies. A reputable seller wants repeat business and repeat business means happy customers who leave positive ratings. Getting that means they need to bend over backwards on returns and exchanges to avoid getting negative ratings on eBay’s services.

Third, see if the seller has an “About Me” page (look for the word me in blue and red letters in the “Meet the Seller” section) or an eBay store (there will be a link that says “Visit seller’s store”) or an “About Me” page.

Many times, the store or About Me page includes further information on the eBay seller. Often you’ll find addresses or phone numbers of a physical brick-and-mortar store, which can be very reassuring. Don’t hesitate to call and ask questions!

Protecting Yourself When Paying

Figure delivery costs into your final price – and look for suspiciously high shipping costs (a sign of an unscrupulous seller). If you spend a lot of money, make sure the seller will insure the item when it ships.

When paying, use a credit card – preferably through PayPal. PayPal allows you to pay securely with your credit card and it’s owned by eBay, which makes it the preferred payment mechanism for eBay sales. And there’s additional protection when buying through PayPal, up to $1,000 in value.

Following the steps above should help ensure a hassle-free diamond or gemstone buying experience on eBay. Good luck!

How Much Money Ebay Stole From Me in the Last Week!!!

How Much Money EBay Stole From Me In The Last Week!!!

This past 7 days I did an experiment. I had not listed on eBay in over two months so I really never had any idea what I was truly spending per item in listing and final valuation fees… until now… My account was paid up and I was beginning from ground zero.

Well I put on 182 items of good to very good antique and vintage costume jewelry with most under $10.00, a number of them under $20.00 and a few under $40.00. None of my auction listings had any extra “bells and whistles” so that most listed for $.35 – $.90.  I sold 55 auctions for $1,105.00… not bad for a week’s work? Can’t beat it huh!!! Well the week has ended and let me give you the total breakdown of my costs.

With the cost of 182 auctions’ listing fees, 30 items relisting fees and final valuation fees I owe eBay $305.55. So that means I now made $799.45… still not bad for a week’s work… right? Oh I forgot ebay buyers can now only pay with paypal and this is any estimated $133.99 in Paypal charges (remember this is still going into eBay’s pocket). Well that now brings me down to $665.46… okay not as good as I had hoped… but, oh I forgot the cost of my merchandise which at the low end is about $455.00 and which I also bought through eBay so they made more money from me when I made my bids to win it … now I made $210.46 … well now we are down below minimum wage for my 40 hours of work. And it gets worse, I offered FREE SHIPPING as eBay really like to get buyers and this will be about another $100.00… which leaves me with a grand total for the week of $110.46 divided by a 40 hour week makes my hourly rate $2.76 an hour.

So as you see between eBay and Paypal my original $1,105.00 income was reduced by 40% for their fees. This is higher than the highest tax bracket… this is higher than what an auctioneer would have charged and they would have actually worked for the money and probably sold everything.

Throughout the annals of time, I am sure that Ebay along with its subsidiary Paypal are the greediest two companies to have ever graced the face of the earth. One more point about eBay… when listing an auction, eBay would like to see you contribute a percentage of your sales to a charity from 10% to a whopping 100%. I really hope no eBay seller is under the delusion that eBay is sending a check to your favorite charity with your name on it… wrong …eBay is taking your hard earned charitable contribution and writing it off against their corporate taxes thus lowering eBay’s tax liability. EBay sellers fill eBay’s pockets with tons of cash and then eBay turns around and expects eBay sellers to pay their taxes!!! This is unfathomable greed and eBay continues to get away with it!!!

Now along with all of this, as a seller I have to worry that someone will leave me negative feedback and I have no recourse, or God forbid someone reverses their payment to me on Paypal and I am out those additional funds, or that my Power Seller (what good is it anyways) will be dropped or the ultimate I will wake up one morning and across my screen in big yellow words “YOU ARE SUSPENDED FROM EBAY” for something inane and trivial.

I honestly have to ask why do people put up with this greed and craziness. Why do eBay sellers struggle to keep eBay’s pockets over brimming and their stockholders fat!!!  Ebay is not the place it used to be or is it really even an option as a place to make money. Actually most could work at McDonalds and make twice as much and get a free burger in the bargain.

The problem is that people who love auctions and buying and selling vintage and antique things can’t get it out of their blood. Well there is a true alternative to eBay and it is especially for the small boutique and specialty store buyer and seller of vintage and antique things. I along with three others have started VintageBoutiquesMall and it is the umbrella company for a series of new and exciting auction boutiques for antique and vintage merchandise to be opened over the next 14 months. The premise of our business is three fold. First is to have auction boutique venues for specialty antique and vintage merchandise. Second is to be the least costly venue on the internet. And third is to provide the best customer service available anywhere.

The first auction boutique, opened in October 2008, is Vintage Gems Emporium at www.vintagegemsemporium.com. This is an exclusive auction venue for antique, vintage and new costume and fine jewelry.  For example if I had listed the above 182 auctions on Virtual Gems Emporium with the many free upgrades VGE offers, my total cost to list and relist would have been $74.20 and this is because THERE ARE NO FINAL VALUATION FEES!!! Yes that is right $74.20 as compared to $305.55 at eBay. Also since Virtual Gems Emporium does not require the buyer to pay by Paypal (this obviously is still an option along with many other payment options at VGE) I could save the additional $133.99. My sales of $1,105.00 would have only been diminished to $1,030.00 and that is if everyone would have paid by check or money order. Now if all had chosen to use paypal or comparable online payment, my total proceeds would have been reduced to around $896.81 at VGE as compared to the above $655.46. This is a huge savings of $241.35.  The point here is that buyers and sellers now have options.

LIST FOR FREE THROUGHOUT DECEMBER AND JANUARY

Just to show you how generous we are at VGE you can list as much as you want for FREE throughout the month of December and January. Hopefully you will get that extra cash needed for Christmas and the holidays. We want as many jewelry lovers to come to get to know us and test drive our site… and we want to see you make money for the Holidays. So get going and enjoy a wonderful and exciting month of making some extra money without worrying about listing fees and NO Final Valuation Fees!!! IMPORTANT KEYS TO YOUR SUCCESS ON THE SITE and GETTING YOUR VGE BUSINESS OFF THE GROUND!!!

This is a new site since only being up just a little over a month and I just want to remind you that this site is YOUR site. As with starting any new business endeavor you will need to work to contact friends, family and other auction buddies you may have in your email address book and let them know where you are. This is good for everybody. In my first month on VGE, many of my previous buyers from eBay signed up and my income barely skipped a beat and actually probably did better since I paid no Final Valuation Fees!!! If you want more than you will be expected to work to make VGE better than eBay and with the opportunity to make tons of money with more of it going in your pocket.

I have read many blogs and forums over the past year and a half and the complaints about eBay continue to mount. But the overriding comment has always been “why doesn’t someone else start an auction site for the small boutique seller”. Well that is what gave birth to the idea of Virtual Gems Emporium and IT IS FOR YOUR USE TO MAKE TONS OF MONEY!!!.

Once you have registered I will be sending you an email for you to send to your friends, family and auction buddies. This letter should be emailed as a blind copy (BCC) to everyone in your email address book.  Just as with any new business venture you need to get your leads for sales and this will help to bring those who love you and your things to the site. Think about business associates, church members or anyone else who you might know and make them aware of where you are and that they might find some really great Christmas or Holiday Gifts for those on their lists.

The great news gets even greater. Before the end of 2008 two more new sites will be opened and each will again be vintage and antique boutique auctions like Virtual Gems Emporium. And guess what, if you are signed up on Vintage Gems Emporium you will have a “VINTAGE BOUTIQUES PASSPORT” to shop and sell in any and all boutiques that are opened.

The next auction boutique to be opened will be ViNTAGE Collectibles Shop and will be for all of the vintage and antique things that collectors love. You will find stamps, coins, toys, comic books, dolls, sports memorabilia, snowglobes, Disney, paper ephemera and so much more.

The third auction boutique will be Arts and Antique GallerIA and will be all about fine vintage and antique pieces for the dealer and collector. You will find paintings, limited edition art pieces, sculpture, vintage and antique porcelain, glassware, art glass, pottery, art pottery, Asian Antiques, antiquities, furniture, and so much more.

In 2009, other fabulous boutique auction sites will be opened and will include Veranda and Patio, European, African, Far East, Gourmet, Kitchen, Bed and Bath, Pet and more!!! So hold onto your hats because this is where the future is going and just think you are all in on the ground floor of this very exciting endeavor.

Unlike EBay, VGE has many buyer to seller payment options and include personal check, cashier’s check, money orders, Western Union, Paypal, Google Check Out, Authorize.net and even more so you now the FREEDOM and OPPORTUNITY to conduct your business the way you want to.

To summarize, build your business on VGE as quickly as you can so you can make a ton of money especially with the holidays coming.

We want you to be successful and we want our site to be the best ALTERNATIVE out there.

Thank you and welcome to your future!!!!

Registration to sell or buy at Vintage Gems Emporium is free and easy. To sign up today visit http://www.vintagegemsemporium.com.

Ebay Store Guide

There are a couple of small identified positive aspects of becoming a PowerSeller that only those who have knowledgeable them can tell you about. 1 of these positive aspects, for example, is that you can come to be qualified for discounted healthcare coverage by way of the programs that eBay is involved in. A further small identified benefit is receiving preferred client service and e-mail assistance from eBays staff. If you reach a Platinum level of PowerSeller status you will even get your own eBay account representative whose job will be to get familiarized with your account, support you troubleshoot challenges, and support you tweak your selling techniques for optimal sales.

In order to come to be a Bronze PowerSeller (which is the lowest level of PowerSeller and a marvelous aim to shoot for!) you have to typical more than $1,000 per month in sales more than the course of a 90 day period. This might possibly sound like a lot, but when you comprehend that you only have to have to do $1,000 in gross sales it becomes exceptionally realistic. Just feel, if you sell $1,000 worth of goods per month and only make $100 profit you will nonetheless be hitting the mark! The monthly aim has absolutely nothing to do with your bottomline earnings, only your gross sales – producing it considerably a lot easier to acheive PowerSeller status than you could possibly feel! Other specifications incorporate at least a 98% overrall client feedback satisfaction rating, and no violations of eBay policies or guidelines. You have to also have your seller account fees paid up to date and typical at least 4 transactions per month.

A couple of way more positive aspects incorporate the look of an eBay PowerSeller icon subsequent to your username and in the Meet The Seller section of all of your auction listings. (This icons look can be turned off if you wish). The look of this rather simple icon can basically enhance your sales when other eBay members see that you are a trustworthy and properly respected PowerSeller who abides by eBay rules and regulations. So what are you waiting for I recommend taping a note to your monitor that says I will be a PowerSeller in 90 days! You will be shocked how convenient it is to reach your objectives when you have set them.

Aside from the couple of couple of positive aspects mentioned here, take a couple of minutes to check out the way more information and facts on the eBay auction web-site itself. Here are some exceptionally valuable links containing way more zero cost information and facts in regards to not only positive aspects of the PowerSeller plan, but also detailing the similar specifications that I mentioned in this post.
