How can I know a wristwatch sold in eBay is authentic and not a clone ?

February 19th, 2013 1 comment

I am interested in a Tonino Lamborghini wristwatch sold in eBay but the retail price is, they say(many sellers not just one) 2500 to 2900 dollars and they sell them in 200-300 dollars, why so cheap, or so great difference, how can I know if they are clones or authentic. I know eBay is cheaper than a store, but so big difference make me doubt, thanks for your advice.

It is definitely against the rules to lie on Ebay as a seller (I am one). In my experience buying also I haven’t had anyone lie to me in over 150 purchases. I would first message the seller asking if it was authentic, and if he says it is just look over the whole listing again just to make sure. If he/she says it’s authentic it probably is. Watch out for words like this is an authentic Torino Lamborghini or something like that which could be talking about a different product that looks the same with a similar name that really is a clone. I hope this helps you!

how do i start selling on ebay after i’ve been buying for a while?

February 7th, 2013 2 comments

i have an account already on ebay and have been buying stuff for 3 months on there i think. i want to start selling on there and i would sign up for paypal using my debit card. after i sign up for paypal what do i do to start selling on ebay?

btw, how much does ebay take away from you when you sell something? or when do they take away money and how much?

Read the "how to start selling" tutorial on Ebay would be my advice. There is a lot you need to learn and easy mistakes to avoid making. The sellers fees are listed clearly there, it depends on your starting price, whether you use Buy It Now or auction format etc. You may have to pay an insertion fee? Definitely a Final Value Fee (depends on the final selling price) and a fee to Paypal for accepting a payment. Bear these things in mind when selling :-

See how much similar items are selling for by "watching" one in My Ebay and check after the auction ends. It might not be worth your while bothering for low value items once the fees are paid.

Take a really good clear photograph to upload, don’t copy off the internet.

Weigh the item in its packaging before you work out the P&P, packaging can weigh heavy.

Heavy items do not sell well, people won’t pay a fortune for P&P so think before you sell esp. books which can be quite heavy.

Describe any defects/faults in full it saves having to issue a refund later on to an unhappy buyer.

Always get proof of posting stamped at the post office (this is free, not the same as registered post) because buyers can sometimes turn round and say an item never arrived. If you can scan/email proof of posting to them and have a clear refund policy stated on the auction this takes the wind out of their sales.

Always send expensive items by registered post only, choose that option from the list and sort out how much this is before you list the item.

Good communication is the key on Ebay, communicate with your buyers, answer questions promptly and keep them informed when you post the item.

How do I clean the 4 plate hobs on an electric cooker ?

January 24th, 2013 1 comment

I want to put our Belling electric cooker up for sale on Ebay and obviously want to clean it up first. It’s in quite good condition anyway but was wondering if anyone had any tips for cleaning the actaul hobs. They’re not in a bad condition but could probably do with a better clean. Any advice would be appreciated.

How to sell things on eBay?

January 11th, 2013 2 comments

I want to sell a rather expensive item on eBay and I would rather do a ‘Buy it Now’ sale as opposed to an auction. If I also add the ‘Or Best Offer’ option can I reject the offers, or do I have to give the item to the highest offer? I don’t want to need to give it away for a very low price, so please leave advice.

You can sell buy it now together with best offer
Buyer who sent best offer only win if you accept the offer . You can also set auto decline if they offer lower than ( exp $200 )

Hope this help

My home was lost to foreclosure via auction. How can I verfiy that it actually sold at the auction?

December 23rd, 2012 4 comments

I believe that an investment company won the auction and then failed to close the deal within the specified time. They were trying to flip the house and I don’t think they were able so they forefitted the bid deposit. The auction was on June 12 and there still are no recorded documents according to the county recorder’s office. Any advice on how to get to the bottom of this. I have moved on, but I just want some closure as to how it all played out. Thanks.

You can call the county recorder’s office or the clerk’s office and ask them to tell you who currently owns your property, as well as any liens on the property right now.

That would be the easiest way, since the county in which the property is located keeps all of the records affecting the property. If the foreclosure went through but there was a problem with the sale, they will be able to give you that information.

But if you are right and there are still no documents that have been recorded to show a transfer of ownership, then the house may have to be auctioned again at a later date. If the high bidder could not pay, the house may just go back to sheriff sale.

In the meantime, you might still be the owner of the property, just as you were during the foreclosure process. It is usually the confirmation of the sale that transfers final ownership — if that hasn’t been done in your case, you may still own the property for now.

Hope that helps.

How do I start an Ebay business?

I have baby items to sell, mostly designer clothes. What do I need to do? What are the costs involved? Do things like baby clothes sell quickly usually? I appreciate any tips and advice. Thanks!

As an eBay seller for 11yrs here is some advice as to what you do

To sign up for an eBay seller account you must list a credit card and/or bank info . Register also for Paypal
Most buyers pay through paypal and you would want to offer that on your auction.
Accept credit card payments, echeck payments through paypal with a CONFIRMED ADDRESS ONLY and ship only to that confirmed address or you might get taken by shady buyers .

Do not ship your item until all payments clear.

ebay charges a listing fee, designer fee, final value fee
Paypal charges a % of the sale . All in all your total out of pocket will come to approximately 6% -10 % of your auction

Generally shipping is paid by the buyer and you can use the ebay shipping calculators for estimates.

You can also include shipping in your sale too.

You need to have an opening minimum bid listed

You can list your auction with a reserve or not
a reserve is the absolute lowest amount you will take for the item but is not outwardly made available to the potential buyers – you as the seller will be charged a fee by ebay to list with a reserve

You can also list a BUY IT NOW price ( ebay charges you a fee for this) This is an outward purchase by the buyer.

Most people list for 3-5-7 days.
Hint : most auctions end on Sunday evenings

*10 POINTS* Ebay question: What makes a good listing for a seller?

December 18th, 2012 1 comment

What would make my adverts sound good (I sell jewellery) and what do you put on yours that seem to work if you’re a seller?

I know there’s advice on ebay about this but I’d like to know from fellow sellers too.

I will mark the best answer.

GO!

I’m in your same boat! We make and sell custom jewelry and want to take a try at ebay. There are sooo many sellers there and it seems some are undercutting the market a bit. I would make a website fi you don’t already have one to link to. It may give you more credibility and if you have any press releases that could help. I’ve also been told to do a lot of social networking mentioning your ebay store, word spreads fast that way. One last bit of advice is to get on LinkedIn, there are great resources of what works for online sales techniques in the jewelry retailers groups. Hope this helps a little.

I am hoping to start selling goods on eBay as a way to make some extra cash, tips or advice?

December 6th, 2012 3 comments

I am hoping to start an eBay seller account, I have a job that gives me a lot of free time and I recently sold some things through kijiji and made some good money fairly quickly. Now I would like to get into finding merchandise and selling it on ebay for a profit… I am not asking for everyone to tell me their business secrets they worked hard to learn but I would like some advice for starting off. Thank you!

Try not to sell something dozens of other people are selling, because you’ll either never make a sale, or you’ll have to lower prices so much that you only break even (or even lose money). If you’re selling multiple related items, offer combined shipping discounts. People will be more inclined to buy more than one thing if shipping is cheaper.

I would like to start an internet business and would like to know where to start?

I am looking for detailed steps since I have no computer background.

Hi there,

From my own experience i can highly recommend the following as a way of making money out of eBay WITHOUT having to sell anything.

http://tinyurl.com/r2g97y

Take a look at the package on offer. I did and after a bit of a learning curve, I had a website that was making me around $160 a month with minimal effort. So minimal in fact, I left it entirely to make money month by month and ‘sales’ have declined since – due to my own neglect. Money for old rope my dad called it! I probably made $800 out of that site and you can make as many sites as you can think of eBay niches to base them on. if you look at the forum, its full of people who have managed to give up their day job to become ebay partner affiliates. Its also packed full of advice relating to other ways of making cash on the net not related to ebay. There IS a learning curve but it gets easier as you go along and these is plenty of help. Its a turnkey product in theory although you do have to add content and make it unique etc

This is my ‘neglected’ site:

Hope that helps!

Is it to early to sell Christmas items on eBay?

November 28th, 2012 4 comments

Hello,

Last year I bought a lot of Christmas supplies, decorations, Christmas themed toys and baby clothes, etc. on after-Christmas sales to sell on eBay. Do you think it is too early for me to list them or should I wait until the end of October? I want to get them to my customers before the mail gets all blocked up with Christmas gifts. Any advice will help.

Thanks in advance!

I don’t think it’s too early, but are people looking for them yet? Will you get your best prices for them if you don’t have lots of shopper yet?

My gut feeling is to list these items in the middle of November when people are more in the spirit of shopping so you can get your best pricing. The Post Offce has such reduced volume of mail these days that unless you are shipping in the last couple of weeks before christmas, you are not going to encounter high volume/slow shipping.
