Has anyone else noticed or experienced slower sales on their eBay listings?

January 23rd, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I know that the recession might be playing a major part of that, but I was wondering if anyone else has slower sales.

Any ideas why or how I can improve my sales?

Thanks!

Most Ebay sellers notice a slow down in sales beginning in April/May and then it generally picks back up in August/September.

You may be able to drive some traffic to your store by participating in the Ebay forums and groups. I use to spend a lot of time there answering questions and make a lot of friends (and sales) but I don’t go there anymore since I now have a website that I own and run from home.

You should research ended listings to see what kind of products are hot right now, that is a good way to know what the market trends are.

Good luck to ya!

I just started selling on eBay this past week. My 1st time! I had a 7 day auction which ended yesterday and nothing sold. Needless to say, I’m very disappointed, but I’ve re-listed my auction once again and I’ve added more merchandise. I’m hoping to see at least 1 of my items sell.

I can also use some ideas as to how to improve my sales!

Late March & early April tend to be slow because of spring breaks. Things pick up a bit after Easter. I don’t even bother to list during these weeks because even if I do get bids, they are pretty low. Instead I use this time to stock up on inventory and prep a bunch of new ads. (Along with a little R&R!).

If your sales have been slow pretty much since Christmas, you might need to up your game. Use an auction management service to create professional looking listings. I use Auctive (because it’s free!) but I’ve heard seller sourcebook is good.

I don’t believe the recession is having any effect on ebay sales; we have several ebay shops and things have picked up quite dramatically over the last couple of months – you firstly need to ensure that your item is something a buyer wants; secondly have a professional listing; thirdly try different styles of listings (GTC/auctions with BIN option and featured listings/try listing auctions so they have 2 weekends of exposure).

We actually had sales 85% down over xmas compared to the year before – which we put down to ebays new listing and search features. We seem to have overcome this by adapting our sales/listing techniques.

As the others have said, this is the slowest time of year and things will pick up again after the Easter hols and then slow down again over the summer hols; things start really hotting up in September.
