Learn How to Sell on Ebay

Without question, launching an online auction business through EBay can be one of the most successful business ventures you can ever make. Every 365, millions of people buy and sell items through this popular online auction place, buying everything from Moroccan rugs to pheromones. Statistics for EBay selling has shown that $14 out of every $100 spent online happens through EBay. Its popular setup and navigational style has let many people starting their own online auction businesses, with many considering it a full-time job. Its premise is easy: EBay selling means offering an item, receiving bids for it, and selling the item to the highest bidder.

The first rule in launching an EBay business is to come up with the product line you want to deal with. Can you wholesale New Era baseball caps or pajama pants at 50% off the retail price to flip through EBay? How about that ancient baseball card collection with $100 plus baseball card values? Used items are some of the most widely sold on EBay. Starting an online auction with EBay is good for EBay, since a fraction of the total selling price of any item you sell goes directly to them.

EBay selling is complemented by the effort webmasters put in wholesaling work. The best item to sell for profit on EBay doesnt matter if you cannot find a reliable wholesale source. Wholesalers can also launch EBay auctions by selling their products to people who want to flip them and sell it at a later date. Whether you have 28848 total sales or 3 sales, starting a customer service and repeat customer base is critical when it comes to building profit. EBay selling doesnt discriminate against the Powersellers or the newbies, as long as customer service is top notch. Your wedding dresses may fly off the counters but your EBay username is backed up by a feedback system that lets customers provide comments on your service and product. The higher your feedback, the more products sold bottom line.

Starting an online auction business on EBay may reward you its coveted Powerseller status in the future. Powersellers are auctioneers that earn feedback ratings of at least 98% positive and $1000 worth of sales every month for three straight months. Instead of trying to find out the best item to sell for profit on EBay, Powersellers rely on their strengths along with customer support and promises fulfilled. A trivial item like a keychain may not sell well on the street, but many Powersellers earn enough pull to keep selling these items like hotcakes because of their reputations. In conclusion, starting an online business on EBay is a bona fide business venture with many rewards.

Your first stop should be eBay’s Guide to Seller Services http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/services.html

eBay’s Seller Central has all the resources you need to learn about the basics of selling on eBay http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/index.html

The key to a successful eBay selling is simple — Sell products that people actually want.

Selling on eBay is not as easy as some portray. In fact, go to eBay and check out the number of auctions that end without a single bid. Competition is getting tough, as more sellers go to eBay; even the big boys are joining in the eBay marketplace. Add to that the increasing listing and final value fees.

eBay has several ways for you to determine exactly what the hot items to sell on their marketplace:

Items In Demand = the most popular items currently within that particular category. To see the In Demand page, go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/sellbycategory.html

Hot Items by Category Report = a monthly report that lists the fastest growing categories on eBay for the previous month. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html and select "Hot Items by Category" from the menu on the left.

eBay Pulse = "a daily snapshot of current trends, hot picks, and cool stuff on eBay". Go to http://pulse.ebay.com/ to see eBay Pulse in action.

Merchandising Calendar = eBay promotes specific categories on its home page each month. Savvy eBayers know that this home page exposure results in more interest in such categories. Go to http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/calendar.html to view the current Merchandising Calendar.

Other non-eBay sites that teaches how to sell on eBay successfully are:

I’m an ebay seller selling collectible children’s books pre-1970. (see my ebay store http://www.childhoodpagesgoneby.com ) I buy my books at the library booksales. They only cost like 25¢ to $1.00 each and resell them on ebay for like $25-$200 each. I already know which books are valuable: titles, authors and types as I have spend quite some time learning about this niche.

I utilized a lot of great resources that helped me gain knowledge in this category much quicker by utilizing information on which books were valuable from women I personally knew online whom spend their time gleaning this information and sharing it others. They take great joy helping others learn how to this. I have some great links for you to browse, mostly for books, and one link for learning how to sell retail children’s clothing. I do not recommend anything that I have not tried or read myself as I know how much junk and worthless information there is out there that just only waste our time! Luckily, I was able to find some that were so worth every penny, at an affortable price and worth your time.

I highly recommend Pamela and Julie Anna’s ebook on how to stay at home and sell on ebay. It is full of "no-frills, fact-filled information." I personally knew these two women from a Yahoo ebay group for a long time. They both are stay at home mothers with children whom they homeschool. Those two co-wrote this ebook together, taking their experiences from selling on ebay successfully and putting it into an ebook, so others could have the same kind of success they did. They did it out of love of what they do. So it is legit with real faces and give them a two-thumbs up!

If you are interested in selling books which is quite ideal because there is an abundance of used books out there that are cheap to buy from: garage sales, thrift stores, library booksales, etc. There is a right and wrong way of selling a book on ebay. So it really helps to have someone show you the ropes of how to properly sell your book each step of the way. Elaine’s ebook which is about 100 pages long, shows you every single detail on how to sell your book on ebay with maximum potential and effect. I’ve already read it and give it a two-thumbs up. This ebook shows you the actual recipes in detail, so you can get started right away as you are reading each page. This lady is friend also and have talked to her several times. She’s awesome!

    Her blog: http://sell-books.blogspot.com/
This one is her price guide of valuable children’s books that you can print out and take with you to book hunting. http://www.valuablebooklists.com/?hop=childpages

This is my ebay and bookselling blog. I’ve not written on it for awhile, but I have some very good articles on there that are helpful. http://stacymoskus.blogspot.com/

And lastly, if books are not your thing, another source of merchandise is buying clearance, marked down New retail children’s clothes and then reselling them on ebay. This lady does it full time and explains every single detail on how she does it on her website. I’m amazed how little she is charging, only $3.95 a month, and she is spilling the details on how to find these clothes and how to sell it. So generous of her! http://www.herecomesthestork.com/cgi-bin/affiliates/clickthru.cgi?id=childhoodpages

It would be a good idea to join an ebay group to ask questions as you go and glean information. I recommend the Yahoo group "ebay_establishings" http://groups.yahoo.com/ebay_establishings as that is where I hung out for a long time with Pamela and Julie Anna. You will get much more focused, detailed and expert answers on there instead of here at Y!A. It’s a very active group.
