Selling Wholesale Products on Ebay?

October 17th, 2012 5 comments

I just got a website full of products to sell on ebay but the problem is that I don’t know what starting price I should put my items on Ebay. For Example: I’m want to sell a Playstation 3 40GB with Grand Theft Auto 4 and a PS3 Network Blue Ray Disc.

Wholesale Price0 : $411.99
Sale Price :$599.99
My Profit: $188.00

I ask this question before and someone told me that on ebay I need to churn items quickly and not worry about profit and if I make $188.00 per item and sell 1 item but if I make $50.00 per item but sell 12 i will make more money. Is this some kind of wholesale selling technique to sell wholesale products and make profits? How will I make more money by selling 12 PS3 systems and make $50.00 per item if the wholesale price is 411.99 per item? Please explain carefully step by step so I can understand it easily.

I think the point they were trying to make is that if you ask $599 for them, they might not sell, but if you ask $461 for them, they will sell. Would you rather make $50 profit per item and get rid of them, or ask $188 profit per item and be stuck with them?

This is all your choice. You can do whatever you want. You can sell them for any amount you want to ask. The person who advised you was just trying to make a point that it’s easier to make a smaller profit than a large one.

Wholesale Products – Selling the Right Items on Ebay

Avoid selling the things you love, but, perhaps no one else does. Your hobbies and personal interest can be a great way of making money, but only if plenty of other people are interested in them too. Another scenario is when you find wholesale products that you think is absolutely wonderful and could be the next best thing…but no-one seems interested in buying it.

Oh well you think, it’s only short term, eventually they’ll learn about my item and start flocking to buy it. Ah, no they won’t. It’s lonely work trying to educate people on the benefits of a product all on your own. As fabulous as the wholesale products might be, it’s nigh-on impossible to start a trend on your own. To make money from a trend, you need magazines and newspapers, word of mouth and television to do some of the work for you.

There is a danger in very large items also. Unless you already have experience selling and shipping large items like furniture or pianos, then it might be wise to start with something smaller. Shipping such large items is a major operation. Not only that, these items will sell less often than mid-priced items as they won’t attract the same number of impulse buyers.

Be careful about selling items too cheap, under $10. It sounds like a great idea – after all, everyone likes a bargain don’t they? But items that sell for under $10 have one big problem: Shipping. It’s quite likely that the shipping for the item will cost more than the item itself and this can be very off-putting to buyers.

For example, if the item costs $4.50 and shipping costs $6, the total cost for the item is $10.50. If the buyer can purchase the item at their local store for $8, then this suddenly becomes a much better deal. For small items and accessories, the way to get around this problem is by grouping the items together, such as sets of 6 golf-balls or 5 tea towels.

Some items are very difficult to ship such as fragile china, plants. Of course these are not bad items to sell altogether. Many sellers do very well from these items. But I don’t suggest you sell such difficult items when you are first starting out. Both these items have an above-average shipping risk, particularly if not packed properly. As a new seller, any negative feedback you receive at this early stage could be especially damaging to your career.

here are items that are very hot with many people selling them, that doesn’t mean that you should. Many sellers think that the best way to get started on eBay is to sell items that everyone else is selling. Surely those super hot items such as ipods, cell phones, psps and so on will be a quick route to riches?

Well, no. The sellers who are already selling these items are not only more established on eBay – and thus familiar to and trusted by buyers – but they will be able to buy wholesale products in larger bulks lots than you will, so their prices will always be better. Thus it will almost certainly be very difficult for you to make a profit in a market that is already well supplied.

How to Make Money Selling on eBay

May 19th, 2012 3 comments

The media has a love affair with bizarre online sales – ghosts in a jar, grilled cheese sandwiches with the Virgin Mary baked right in, loyalty to sports teams – we’ve all heard plenty of strange things that have been sold on eBay. However, the more that individuals hear about these strange stories, the more aware we become that there are plenty of people making a lot of money on eBay.

In addition, there are a host of “get rich quick” programs out there that focus on eBay. Radio and even television have been invaded by internet gurus that claim to show you how to quit your job and begin making full time incomes on eBay and how to become a Powerseller.

You could pay thousands of dollars to these gurus to have them teach you how to make money selling on eBay, but the truth is that it is quite easy to do so. Contrary to popular opinion, the key to eBay selling is not to go to garage sales and thrift stores looking for gems. The key to building an eBay business is not to scrounge around your house looking for collectibles that will demand a high price. Although there are those that do this, it is not the best way to make full-time incomes or second income streams. Instead, the key to working at home via the world largest marketplace (a.k.a. eBay) is in selling other people’s products, which is what internet work at homers like to call “drop shipping.”

Drop shipping (also seen as one word) is simply the process of selling wholesale products for a profit and having your supplier ship directly to the customer. Dropship businesses are nothing new, but the internet has made it possible (and profitable) for the common stay at home parent, retiree or student to make good money following the same process that has been used by companies for years. The dropship process works like this:

1.) the work at homer finds a product at a wholesale price

2.) the product is listed on eBay (or another auction site) or one’s own web site

3.) a customer finds and makes a purchase

4.) the seller then orders the product from the supplier and ships to the customer

By following this process, the seller avoids putting down any money, because payment is made before the product is ever ordered. The seller also avoids the packaging and shipping process, because the supplier ships directly to the customer. This process can be duplicated for any product to serve any group of perspective buyers. Most Powersellers achieve this status by drop shipping, and they often make full time incomes doing so. Where do they find products to sell? This is a topic in and of itself, but most drop shippers find wholesale products via drop ship directories.

Before quitting your job and attempting to make money drop shipping, it is important to start small. Attempt to drop ship a few items, and once you find your way around eBay and get used to the process, then you can spend more time and energy into your business.

there is a price that will make you the most amount of profit assuming you have an ample supply of goods.
first you need data. to get this data you may want to sell your item at a buy it now price for a week and then change the price and each time you do this record how many are sold and the profit on each one.
multiply the profit by the amount sold and whatever price gave you the most profit is the one that should be used.
Good Luck !
