What are some good or unique ideas for items to sell on eBay?

March 3rd, 2013 2 comments

What are some good or unique ideas for items to sell on eBay? I live in south Louisiana and I’m possibly looking for good ideas relating to things that we have access to locally that are harder to find in other parts of the country.

Thanks for the help!

Try getting little trinkets, and stuff that are rare to find around your area! They’ll catch eyes!
like an 1950’s toy, or a CD (records) from the 50’s.
maybe antiques? but make sure they’re in good condition.
And since they’re for other countries, this will be even more interesting for them.!

or sell souviniers that people would only find there, like go visit the beach, they should have some stuff there!

Hope this helped!

What is the least expensive way to ship items sold on Ebay?

February 27th, 2013 4 comments

I am in the middle of Ebaying a massive pile of things that I don’t want or don’t use anymore from around my house. I’m about 25% of the way through it all right now and am realizing that I am literally getting owned by both shipping and Ebay fees.

I know that the fees are standard and there is nothing that can be done about them, but my concern in this question is the shipping. I’m a frequent shopper on Ebay as well and constantly buy things like $1.50 cables with free shipping from China or books for $7.00 with free shipping from the US. However, when I go to the USPS (the place I’ve found to be the least expensive to ship from so far), I generally get charged much higher prices than what these people that sell to me must be getting.

I was recently charged $6.85 to ship a book in a bubble mailer envelope and $13.xx to ship a 5lb set of pool balls. I always tell the post office clerk that I would like to ship my items using the least expensive and slowest route possible. If the sellers that I purchase from are being charged these shipping prices, then they are making little or losing money on sales.

I’m hoping someone could give me some insight on how these sellers are shipping their items. There must be something I’m missing. I can’t continue to sell items such as books when I’m selling them for $5 if I have to ask $6.85 for shipping.

Thanks in advance!

for items weighing 13oz or less, use first class mail/parcel. it goes the same way as sending a letter and is charged per oz

for books, use media mail.

if you are shipping priority mail, and the package is heavy, look into using flat rate.

the reason why the chinese cables can ship free is probably because they send what is the equivalent of first class mail since the package is light. books are shipped media mail which is a lot less expensive than other services.

http://postcalc.usps.com/ use that to calculate prices for your listings (but you need a general idea of weight for your packages).

all you really need to do is not offer free shipping for now(until you become more familiar with postage). have calculated shipping in your listings so that the buyer pays for it and you dont worry about how much it will cost you. but you need to know the weight of what you are shipping

My Story

I used to own a retail store, working 60+ hours a week barely make a living. By using the techniques I’ve learned, I have personally sold over £20 Million on eBay in less than 4 years. I just published a book that became an instant best seller – reaching top 10 statuses on both Amazon.com and Barnesnoble.com. I travel the word teaching people to use eBay speaking to 1000’s of people every month. Just think what it would mean to you and your family if you grabbed that same kind of success.

And yes I know those sales numbers sound beyond the realm of believability. In my book “How to Buy, Sell & Profit on eBay” I say that “the greatest eBay stories have yet to be written.” To be honest, it doesn’t matter how much I’ve sold – it matters how successful my students have become using my system.

In the past years since I’ve been teaching people the success principles to succeed on eBay, some decide to sell on eBay part time and make themselves “Lifestyle Money” – an extra £300-£500 a month…and heck. Others have reached high levels of PowerSeller – selling over £25,000 a month on eBay alone (not counting their other online businesses.

How to Turn Ebay ® Browsers Into Buyers: a Call to Action

February 17th, 2013 No comments

During my time as an eBay ® consultant , people have asked me many questions. Often, people ask questions that are contrary to the success of their business, and it’s my job to redirect their thoughts in a more appropriate direction.

Consider the following question: “I have all of my items listed and I’m not getting as many bids as I’d expected, should I lower my pricing?”

I cringe when I hear this question, yet I understand why people ask it. It’s logical that, if something isn’t selling, it must be too expensive, right? Wrong!

There are several answers to this question, none of which are to lower the price. Today, I’m going to address a key factor that anyone can implement to increase their sales––a call to action in their item description.

What is a call to action?

A call to action is a very simple word or phrase that tells your “browser” what they should do next. This may seem obvious, but one of the biggest mistakes you can make as an eBay seller is to sit back and “hope” that your browser will become a buyer.

It is important to put aside your need to be subtle in your ads. Instead, come right out and tell your potential customer what they should do next. You can use words or phrases such as the following:

*Bid Now and Save Money

*Bid Now, Don’t Miss Out on This Incredible Deal

*Buy Now, Before the Price Gets Too High

*Bid Now, Quantities Are Limited and Moving Fast

*This Is a Hard-to-Find Item, Bid While It’s Still Here

You get the idea. Your product may have a special element, which will make this part easy. But, even if your product isn’t unique, you can still come up with an effective call to action.

Increase your sales immediately.

Using a call to action is not something new and it is more than just an idea. This method of selling has been repeatedly tested over time. Experts report that you will increase your sales by 80% simply by telling your browsers what to do next.

Bonus Tip.

Remember, you also have the option of giving potential customers more than one call to action. For example, assume that you have an eBay ® business selling collectible trains and you get a visitor who is looking for one particular item. This browser comes to one of your listings and sees that it isn’t the one they’re seeking. Because your “buy now” call to action might not work here, you’ve lost this person as a customer, right? Wrong again.

You have two things you can do at this point. The first is pretty well known and practiced, which is to direct the potential customer to a complete list of related items. Provide a call to action, such as, “If this item isn’t what you’re looking for, please click here (link to your entire list of auctions on eBay ® ) to see all of my train-related listings.”

The second, and my favorite, is to invite potential customers to sign up for free information. Provide a call to action, such as, Click Here

to visit my About Me page and discover how to receive free, weekly tips about buying collectible trains on eBay without getting scammed.” Collecting names of those who are in the market for your type of product is absolutely priceless.

what place pays out the most web hosting commission per sale for a reseller hosting account?

January 28th, 2013 3 comments

I am selling websites on ebay, I think its better for me to get a good affiliate commission for recommending people join a webhost of my picking. Who can I pick that have a good pay out like something around over 80$ per person enlisted or more

IX Webhosting has the best payout plan. Hands down.

What clothing would people buy from ebay?

January 26th, 2013 5 comments

I’m trying to sell my preowned clothing on ebay, but I’m not having a lot of success. I mostly list dress shirts for $10 + $5 for shipping. I don’t have many sales. Is my list price too high or do people just not like dress shirts in general? All my clothes are in good condition and I only use brand names.

I always sell my old clothing on eBay with lots of success! 🙂 Are your listings ‘But it Now’ or Auctions? Definetly go with Auctions. People love to bid and if you start with a low enough price (dont be afraid to!) most changes are people will bite so quickly, BUT a bidding war will ensue and you’ll a lot more for your item than you think. I always sell my clothes in these huge groups (brand name clothes!!) and start the bidding at an irresistible $15. Jumps to $100+ every time 🙂

These are MUST DO’s:

1. Have at LEAST 3 detailed pictures of each article of clothing. People can’t be there in person to see the clothing items so they will appreciate nice, clear detailed pictures. I usually do 1 regular shot of the entire garment, another shot very up close to show the detail of the pattering or stitching or other nice aspects of the garment, and another shot to showcase another nice detail about the item such as cute pockets, a bow, the buttons, ect. Lots of photos!

2. Talk about each item and how cute it is. Tell people about why this dress or shirt is nice.

3. Try selling your old clothes in lots (groups). Ive never sold anything individually. Selling clothes in lumps helps to take away from the fact that they are all used. Not only that but they will be excited about getting lots of gently used clothing at a deal.

4. You already mentioned that the clothes you sell are brand-name. That’s a bonus. I only own brand-name clothing. Not because Im a snob, but because Im plus-sized, and the only places where I can GET cute clothes for my size is at nice stores in the Mall and such.

5. Presentation! Make sure your photos are nice and clear and have good lighting.

6. My biggest tip is to sell your old clothes all together in a group. I dont know, maybe people like group sales more? Thats the only way Ive ever sold all my clothes and Ive always sold them for a good amount. But if you want to only sell one thing, definitely lower the price some. The dress shirt you mentioned is $10+ 5. That’s $15 for a used item. Depending on where you got it from that may be too much. The clothes I list in my auctions usually are usually $30- $35 for the top alone. So if the item is used, $15 would be a good deal. However, if that top came from say Old Navy for $18, then $15 isnt worth it. Maybe somewhere around $8 and they’ll go for it.

7. Also taking this into mind: Like I mentioned Im plus-sized and we dont have as many stores to shop at as smaller people, so maybe my clothes sell so well because shopping for us can be a pain. So I can imagine is smaller people have so many places to shop, fewer would be on eBay.

8. Is all about being a smart seller. Often I will get rid of a group of my old clothes because I realize they wernt that great to begin with. But if I dont want them, who would? So, to make the listing more appealing I make a sacrifice and pick one more top or two from my wardrobe that I can bear to let go that’s really nice. That adds spice to my listing by adding in more items that people are likely ro want really badly and ensures that I not only sell my listing, but I get a good price for it too. 🙂

How much am I likely to save if I wait for the christmas sales to buy a Graco pushchair (travel system)?

January 24th, 2013 4 comments

Might be ordering online – they usually bump down prices online too so it wont really be a hassle or anything…just wondering, will it be worth it?

You would get a really good deal on ebay, I understand why you want new but an awful lot of pushchairs on there have barely been used as people seem to be able to swap and change. I have always been really happy with the Gracos I’ve had 4 and they always seem good pushchairs to me.

Do you sell on eBay? Have your sales declined in the last few weeks?

January 21st, 2013 4 comments

The sales have certainly declined in the past few weeks. This past week was my worst ever. I never had a problem with declining sales bfore, no matter the season. I suppose what people once spent on eBay, they’re now using in their gas tanks and atthe grocery store. I’ve also had more non-paying buyers in the last month than I’ve had in the past 5 years…

How do i buy and sell on ebay?

January 15th, 2013 2 comments

Hi,
I have recently become interested in buying and selling on eBay, is there specific items that buy and sell and make a profit? I have sold a few items this week and posted them on monday, one was via 1st class and the other was via 2nd class, i still havent been given any feedback. Please help i am a new ebayer.

Mant thanks.

Sell anything you don’t need.
I myself sell like trading cards and all that stuff.

Keep in mind how big the item is for shipping.

But, if looking for just selling stuff around the house an ipod touch is perfect!
Those sell super fast

Since pretty much everyone knows that an ipod touch is sold for $200 used at $150-170
You would lose money(since you have to put it down as used), but if you have your own phone (especially an iPhone) it would be nice to just sell that for around 160 (include cord ALWAYS)

If you are actually looking to make profit buy stuff that people want but no-one really knows the price.
For example take trading cards. Pokemon like cards you won’t get gobs of money but are easy to get from a friend.

Baseball cards are where the money is really at when you where a kid you probably had some.

but now baseball cards aren’t bought as much, like they aren’t really much of a trend. (Although kids may not be buying them extreme collectors will buy)
That is your opportunity to sell yours but before you sell them look the card(s) up online some can get in $1000!
Hope this Helped!
