Making More Money on Ebay

There are many ways you can make money on ebay, from selling stuff you no longer need, all the way up to selling merchandise from a wholesaler. This is not the limit however, of the wonderful methods of generating cash off of the world of ebay. You can sell property, cars, boats, and even businesses. There have been transactions as low as a dollar, all the way up to business transfers that run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ebay is clearly here to stay, now it is time for you to get your feet wet on this great money making opportunity.

Here we will focus on selling for a wholesaler, this is where you will promote other peoples products and sell them for a cut of the profit. Lets say for example you find a product you are interested in such as say, stereo speakers. You will then search for a wholesaler that will accept a contract with someone that deals in affiliates and ebay, with the proof that you are an ebay seller and can verify the account on ebay this should not be hard. Once you have landed this contract with the wholesaler, it is time to set up market strategies, and make sure they conform to what the wholesaler finds acceptable. Make a plan, check it twice and get to work selling.

Once you have the site available for the public to view, you need to weigh out some of the business expenses that will ensure you are not spending more than you are making. By having multiple payment options you can be sure you have all your sales basis covered. One of the biggest expenses you will encounter will be shipping and storage costs. It is not likely that you will have the space in your home to store a couple thousand pairs of home speakers, and this notion would require some sort of insurance that will be required in order for the wholesaler to relinquish the product to you. Any notion that you can rent space for cheap is improbable, and again will still require insurance as a measure of protection for you and the wholesaler. So what do you do? Well the answer is simple; you have the wholesaler keep the product, and ship when necessary to the customer when purchased.

This will keep the entire product in one place, alleviate the need to worry about shipping, and still ensure that you are able to make the sale. Once the product is sold to a customer, you simply place the order to the wholesaler, they will in turn send the product, charge you for the wholesale cost and the holding and shipping cost and the rest is yours to keep. This is not a difficult task and you do not even need to leave your seat. What you really need to do is research the product, and its competitors and finds a price that is reasonable, and will generate the best profit for what you are doing. What you are really doing is selling the goods like a salesman on a store floor. All the while not even leaving your home, you do not even really need to monitor this whole process, as the customer’s invoice will come in to you via e-mail.

I am looking make some extra cash selling on ebay? AN extra £200-300 a month is fine for me.

How can I do that? And what PRODUCTS ARE ON HIGH DEMAND on ebay?

Let me start by answering your last questions first. Ebay is the place to sell ANYTHING. Ok, so anything means "within reason" as Ebay doesn’t allow guns, animals or human body parts, but services is not outside the norm of Ebay sales.

The thing to remain focused upon is not whether Ebay is the place, but whether the service you want to sell can benefit from a "global" market. Ebay has an audience that covers the globe. it is not uncommon to have bidders from as far away as Europe, Russia and Austrailia. So, to put this in perspective, if you are selling graphics for the web, you have a wider market in Ebay. If, however, you are selling house painting, personal errand assistant or even your knowledge in Law, you must look for a more local or geographicaly close audience. This does not mean you shouldn’t use eBay, it only means that your auction pages should reflect this understanding.

Lastly, What products sell well on ebay and is there a way to get this information on a daily basis? This is a question I get an awful lot, both here on AllExperts and through email. The problem is that there is no cut and dried answer. What sells well for one may be a total disaster for another. In addition, consider this: If there is one item that sells well, and could make someone rich, do you really expect to be handed this information on a silver platter? Of course not – but that doesn’t mean that you can’t find something with which to do well on Ebay.

You can search on ebay for the items you’re selling, and you can find items by the number of bids they receive. Items that receive over a certain number of bids are called "Hot Items" and are marked with a small flame icon. Sort any category by clicking on the top of the bid column, and you instantly know which items in that category are receiving the most bids.

Can you sell the same item and get the same bids? This remains a mystery on Ebay. You should know that it is common for two sellers to list identical items – both of which are hot tickets – only to have one receive many high bids and the other get nothing. What is the difference? As I say, it’s a mystery.

The one thing I can tell new sellers is that you have to sell what you know. If you know a bit about depression glass, then I’d say that’s your area to start. If, however, you don’t know the difference between Mayfair and Cabbage Rose, then you’re going to have trouble with those items. Everyone knows a bit about something. You need to assess your own abilities and your own knowledge areas to find those items with which you will do best.

How can i make money using ebay. i have a paypal account. What sort of stuff can i buy and sell on ebay? Also would i make much money doing it?

It doesn’t matter what you sell. To wit, as it is often said, "One man’s trash is another man’s treasure." Most everyone collects or wants something or other.

The thing you want to be aware of with the most popular items is that you will have the MOST COMPETITON from other sellers who sell the same items. You can’t be competitive and make a decent profit unless you get the best wholesale price to maintain an adequate profit margin. If your opening bid price is higher than other sellers selling the same items, you won’t have many sales.

Other suggestions for items to sell:

Look no further than ebay itself. You will not be looking for single item listings but rather your target will be listings that have similar, grouped items. There are ebay ‘vultures’ who just love to swoop down on similarly grouped items in one listing. When they win these auctions, they turn around and sell the items individually and, in most cases, get one and a half to 2 times and sometimes three times what they paid for them on an average item basis. I know this works. When I had more time (read unemployed), I was one of these ‘vultures.’ This is one of those situations where the parts are worth more than the whole. However, do be cautious if you venture into this arena. You have to know your merchandise. Stay in those areas you are familiar with. You can’t jump in blindly to any and every auction that has grouped items.

If you can buy a large lot of similar merchandise for $100 to $200 and turn it around for $300 to $600, it works out very nicely, indeed! Most buyers of these large lots will be vultures as well so you could be ‘butting bids.’ Keep in mind that the higher the closing price at ebay, the less your profit on the turnaround. It’s not an exact science and it does take a little experience to really know what you’re doing but you can’t be afraid to go out on a limb. That’s where the fruit is. When I see an auction of grouped items it tells me loud and clear that the seller is far more interested in getting rid of their stuff the quickest, easiest way possible and ‘be done with it’ rather than in making a decent profit or profit at all.

Short of items to sell and where to find items to sell? Garage and yard sales, church bazaars, flea markets are obvious. These can be the cheapest sources of merchandise. ‘Junktique’ shops are not that good because these folks know their merchandise. This being the case, it is usually OVERPRICED, not under priced.

If you want to let your fingers do the walking, you too can be crafty ‘vulture’ like a select group of other ebay sellers. Become a member of several smaller auction sites and search for bargains there. But as before, ‘stick with what you know.’

There are also volume sellers who concentrate on only a handful of popular items by buying in volume / wholesale at a discount and selling at a discount. The average schmo at eBay can’t compete with volume sellers of a particular item.

GOODWILL sometimes also has good bargains, but not always. Mondays / Tuesdays are the best days to visit Goodwill as most people will drop off their donations on Saturdays and Sundays and it has to be cleaned, sorted and marked before it can be placed on display.

To maximize profits, sell WORLDWIDE, not just one country. A basic business tenet is, ‘The greater the potential market, the greater the potential to maximize profits.’ It’s TRUE! You will now have access to 200+ million members.

Lastly, keep in mind that experience is the best teacher. Start off slowly listing only two or three items and see how that goes for you. Once you get your feet wet and gain confidence, start listing more items on a weekly basis. You will soon learn the ins and outs and the dos and don’ts in short order and ultimately settle on a system that works best for you. The more items you list, the more items you will sell, the more $$ you will make and the harder you will work. Nothing in life comes easy and that includes becoming a successful seller at ebay. If you are conscientious and put in a little extra effort, you will do well. If you are lazy or indifferent in selling your items, you won’t. Good luck & happy selling!

How do people actually make money on EBay everything is so cheap?

The real goal behind making money on Ebay is to find/sell those ‘items’ that a large consumer market are always ‘buying’, regardless of the market.

To find the ‘hot items’, for a lack of better words, that are sold month-after-month, check out these two (2) Ebay references:

Here, you can find a LOT of GOOD information, such as what ‘categories’ on Ebay are hot and/or what the hot selling ‘items’ are as well.

This second resource is a MONTHLY PDF File, composed and maintained by Ebay, which will tell you what categories/items have been consistent ‘hot items’ from month to month. While the PDF file will change with each passing month, the URL above WILL NOT! So, bookmark it and continue to review it every month.

The next thing to consider is finding ‘drop-shippers’ of some of these products. The benefit to having a ‘drop-shipper’ is that when your auction is over, you send the request to the drop-shipper, they then take over the ‘customer experience’ and will handle everything from shipping the product to the customer, dealing with charge-backs and most everything else you can think of that would be common place in any type of transaction.

Another key to being highly effective/successful with Ebay Auctions is understanding all the different types of ‘auctions’ there are and how each one can help increase your sales.

How do you make money on Ebay?

Yeah, I know you sell items and hopefully make a profit. However, I was looking for more information on legitimate wholesalers, if it’s smart to only use dropshipping wholesalers, or to just drive around and hopefully find goods that are popular on sale or clearance and resell them using ebay.

It is difficult to make any money by buying wholesale and reselling on eBay because so many other people are already buying things from the same wholesalers. It is very competitive so you have to keep your prices low to sell so there is usually a very low profit margin on each item sold.

Drop shippers can be kind of scary because you have no control. You can’t see the product before it is shipped and you need to depend on them to ship the item promptly. If things ship slow or arrive damaged it hurts your seller feedback and you get negatives. It can also be a mess to deal with returns of damaged items since you have to deal with the drop shipper. I have used a few drop shippers, but only those that I have tested several times by making purchases and have the items shipped to me to make sure they are dependable.

People who make the most on eBay are the ones who search estate sales, garage sales, swap meets, liquidators, quitting business sales, Craig’s list, etc. for items that are being sold at well below their value and re-sell them. Of course you need to become knowledgeable about the value of the items you see and spend most of your spare time looking for items to sell.

Financial tips I should know for buying and reddening on eBay?

I want to start making money (a little money) on eBay. Buying and resselling. What are some great financial techniques I coul use?

Well unless you’re 18 or older you can’t open an eBay and PayPal account legitimately. If you are under age and get caught out (which happens eventually) you’ll be permanently banned. You need to read up on all the rules for new sellers ie item numbers you can sell in a month and be aware that Paypal will hold your money for up to 21 days each sale so you’ll have to pay shipping costs out of your own pocket. Then there’s the fees eBay and PayPal charge, these total about 10% of the sale amount. So you need to make more than 10% mark up to have any profit! You have to find stuff to sell ie go to garage sales etc and buy stuff cheap to sell for more. But it’s hard work, you have to build up your business and earn buyers trust before you’ll start selling easily and eBay lets you sell more stuff each month and PayPal stops holding your money for 21 days. Too many clothes! What should I do- Garage Sale, Ebay, Consignment Shop, Goodwill? Help!?

I have lots of nice clothes. Some still with tags, most never been worn. Good brands, average brands. I need to get rid of them- I have at least 15 large boxes of dresses, shoes, coats, pants, shirts, etc. Has anyone had this dilemma? I’ve never had a garage sale, never used a consignment shop, etc. If its a garage sale- how do you price it? Any tips?

You can make a decent amt of money on Ebay, especially if the clothes are how you describe them. The only catch is that they cut a cut of the money and even if you do not succeed in selling the item, you have to pay them.
