How do i buy and sell on ebay?

January 15th, 2013 2 comments

Hi,
I have recently become interested in buying and selling on eBay, is there specific items that buy and sell and make a profit? I have sold a few items this week and posted them on monday, one was via 1st class and the other was via 2nd class, i still havent been given any feedback. Please help i am a new ebayer.

Mant thanks.

Sell anything you don’t need.
I myself sell like trading cards and all that stuff.

Keep in mind how big the item is for shipping.

But, if looking for just selling stuff around the house an ipod touch is perfect!
Those sell super fast

Since pretty much everyone knows that an ipod touch is sold for $200 used at $150-170
You would lose money(since you have to put it down as used), but if you have your own phone (especially an iPhone) it would be nice to just sell that for around 160 (include cord ALWAYS)

If you are actually looking to make profit buy stuff that people want but no-one really knows the price.
For example take trading cards. Pokemon like cards you won’t get gobs of money but are easy to get from a friend.

Baseball cards are where the money is really at when you where a kid you probably had some.

but now baseball cards aren’t bought as much, like they aren’t really much of a trend. (Although kids may not be buying them extreme collectors will buy)
That is your opportunity to sell yours but before you sell them look the card(s) up online some can get in $1000!
Hope this Helped!

How to set up a paypal account to buy and sell on ebay?

December 12th, 2012 2 comments

I’m looking mainly to sell on ebay through paypal, but I don’t fully understand it. Do I need a personal or a premier paypal account? Will it link directly to my bank account?
Any other tips/advice would also be appreciated.

If you plan to sell on eBay then you need more than a personal account. Otherwise PayPal will limit what you can do.

You can link your bank to it but any money you get from sales will go to your PayPal account and you will have to log in to transfer it to your bank.

ALWAYS get on line tracking, (Delivery Confirmation, etc.), to stay safe. If you don’t the buyer can claim they never got the item you sent and get their money back from you.

ALWAYS take good pictures and describe anything wrong with your item you are selling. Even a tiny scratch or stain. Bidders don’t like getting surprised. Communicate with your buyers quickly and fully when the auction ends. Pay attention to your buyers feedback they have left for others.

I strongly suggest you get a simple digital weight scale for shipping. This will save you a lot of time and trouble. eBay will soon be charging their final value fee based on both the price the auction ended at and the shipping charge so make sure shipping costs are accurate to save money.

How do you know if Louis Vuitton purses off Ebay are real or fake?

December 4th, 2012 2 comments

I am considering ordering a Louis Vuitton bag off Ebay.
I have no experience with Ebay so could you please help me out?
What are some ways to know if it’s real or fake based simply off of the one picture that you can look at and the not very detailed description?

I’m a professional ebay shopper haha so I’ll give you some really good tips that have always worked for me…..If you’re ordering a Louis Vuitton item you’ll want to look at the sellers feedback. If they have 0 feedback I would walk away no matter how great the deal looks. A ton of scammers will post a LV item on ebay with a 0 feedback score meaning that is their 1st and probably last item they will post on ebay. Another hint of a fake or scam is there are no pics except for 1 pic that looks like a stock photo.

Sometimes too a seller with a high feedback score may of gotten a LV bag as a gift and it was fake but they have no idea because they arent a stylish person and really have no common sense that the bag;s fake. I suggest going into a Louis Vuitton store and getting an up close look at the actual authentic bag, this way you’ll have a good sense of what an authentic one looks like and spend time studying the ebay pics for the auction you’re interested in.

Finally, don’t be fooled by a country. Just because the bag is from Japan or China doesn’t mean it’s fake. There are a bunch of ebay stores on ebay that are overseas and have wonderful authentic bags for great prices. If you see a bag you like take a look at the other items they for sale and the prior feedback. After a while you’ll be able to spot a real LV bag very easily.

How long can it take to start up an eBay business?

November 24th, 2012 8 comments

I’ve always wanted to be independent and work for myself doing this, but when I tell people they just laugh at me.

I currently do a small amount of e-bay business.

I would say a month or two. It doesn’t take that long to list items and such but on e-bay a lot of people will not buy from you unless they can see that you have previous positive sales. They want to read your feedback and make sure that other customers were happy with the service. This can take a while to build a reputation that will encourage buyers to buy. It will start slow, but if your product is good, and your prices are low, then your business will do well.

Let them laugh….. while you are making regular deposits into your bank account from paypal.

How can I sell easily on eBay as a new seller?

November 10th, 2012 6 comments

Most people don’t want to buy from a new seller because there is some risk involved. Are there any techniques I could use for selling until I get some good feedback?

Here’s what you do?
Search items which have free shipping.
Just bid $0.99 only. If you win good and if not no prob.
In other words, you would be paying only $0.99 for a feedback. Once you reach 50, then i think people will start buying from you. Once you hit 100 you can open an eBay store. But your sales will still be slow.

After 500 rating, you sales will start to increase. For now, since you don’t have a high rating, try selling cheap stuff which people wont go crazy if it breaks or gets damages.

Oh yea! you can try to sell textbooks. Now many people don’t care about the rating of the seller when it comes to buying textbooks.

GOOD LUCK!

Ebay kicked me permantly off 4 trying to sell a purse & watch I thought real . No warning. How to get back on?

September 4th, 2012 10 comments

Ebay took down my site when listed a Rolex watch I had for sale because I did not have original papers for it. It was real. Then I put up a Gucci handbag and they took that down without any explaination. I put up a Tag Huge watch box that I personally had and decided to sell when I saw others on ebay for sale and that is when they took my account down saying I was selling a potential item that could be used for selling a fraud watch!!! You can sell the old ones, but not the ones that are made (in my case, in 1999.) !! I was selling it in good faith and did check the item out on ebay before I listed it. I had over 690 positives on my feedback. I now have lost all that, plus am permantley suuspended from ever selling on ebay again. I feel this injust that they did this and want to know if anyone has dealt with this or has any information on how to appeal. I did tender a signed a paper saying I wanted to be reinstated and sent them my licence and utility bill. They still refused me. HELP!

I think the only way you could get back on is if you get a receipt or appraisal of the items showing that they are authentic. Fax them to the same number that you sent the other information to. I don’t suggest you sign up a new account, because eBay has a way of linking you, even if it takes a little while.

If you are caught setting up a second account after suspension there will be absolutely no way of ever getting back on.

Don’t give up hope at this point. It just may require a little extra time and money to get back on. It’s worth it if you want to sell authentic items.

In the future don’t list anything that you don’t have documentation for. Include a scan of the documentation in your listing. Black out any personal information, but leave enough that the eBay reps can confirm that it’s not a fraud.

Online auction listings down 13% in boycott of eBay

By Jon Swartz, USA TODAY

SAN FRANCISCO — The biggest boycott by eBay (EBAY) sellers concludes Monday, capping a week of acrimony after the online-auction site raised fees and changed its feedback policy.

Auction listings on eBay.com dropped some 13% since the strike started Feb. 18 to about 13 million items, according to third-party tracking sites such as dealscart.com and medved.net.

The boycott, amid slowing growth and intensifying competition from Amazon and Google, could presage a challenging year for John Donahoe, eBay’s incoming CEO, say analysts.

Like dozens of other boycotts against eBay the past few years, this protest is largely over pricing changes. Though many previous boycotts have fizzled after a few days, the most recent gained more attention through protest-related actions on YouTube and MySpace.

“If (eBay’s listings total) falls below 12 million, we’ve made a pretty good impact,” said Nancy Baughman, an eBay PowerSeller who deals antiques and collectibles. She is also co-author of a book on online auctions.

Jim Griffith, dean of eBay Education, declined to comment on third-party statistics, and said that the site’s internal statistics show the boycott “has had no impact on our listings.” EBay does not publicly release its listings totals.

Fluctuations in eBay’s listings can be hard to interpret due to seasonal swings. Complicating matters, eBay ran a one-day promotion Feb. 13 offering steep discounts of fees, which pushed listings up more than 20%.

Still, the impact of the boycott is evident, says David Steiner, president of AuctionBytes.com, a publication for online merchants. “The protestors made a loud statement.”

Donahoe, who becomes eBay’s CEO in March, recently announced changes to the fees eBay charges. The cost to list items will be cut 25% to 50%, but the commission that eBay charges for completed sales increased, starting last Wednesday. As of May, sellers will no longer be able to leave negative feedback comments for buyers.

“When I heard the changes, I thought it was April Fool’s Day,” Valerie Lennert, one of the boycott organizers, says, referring to the changes in fees and feedback. She sells doll clothes on eBay.

Lennert has spread her message with an anti-eBay video on YouTube. The video has been viewed 140,000 times. The protestors also created a MySpace page.

Despite the protest, eBay is not considering altering or postponing its policies, Griffith says. “A lot of deliberation went into these decisions,” he says.

Rate this video UP if you want me to leave a neutral feedback for him.

Rate this video DOWN if you think he should be punished for his actions and making his account look very very bad.

700 more ebay employees AXED

January 8th, 2012 7 comments

700 more ebay employees AXED under the regime of ebay’s CEO John J. Donahoe:

E-commerce giant eBay is closing its Metro Vancouver customer-service office and cutting about 700 jobs…

The office, located in Burnaby, will be closed by Sept. 30 as the company tries to capture efficiencies …

When eBay opened the 70,000-square-foot centre in 2003, it lauded the Lower Mainlands attributes to serve what was a burgeoning online marketplace.

Meg Whitman, eBays CEO at the time the centre opened, said eBay picked Burnaby out of 100 possible sites because of the regions skilled and educated workforce and its quality of life.

Were excited about Burnaby, Whitman said during an August 2003 visit to the Willingdon centre, we couldnt be happier coming here.

EBay has also had its struggles with a tougher economy, having reported lower profits on slower sales, mostly from its online selling services.

The company reported a $357-million US profit in the first quarter of 2009, which represented a 22-per-cent decline from the $460-million profit it earned in the same quarter a year ago.
