Making More Money on Ebay

March 1st, 2013 5 comments

There are many ways you can make money on ebay, from selling stuff you no longer need, all the way up to selling merchandise from a wholesaler. This is not the limit however, of the wonderful methods of generating cash off of the world of ebay. You can sell property, cars, boats, and even businesses. There have been transactions as low as a dollar, all the way up to business transfers that run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars. Ebay is clearly here to stay, now it is time for you to get your feet wet on this great money making opportunity.

Here we will focus on selling for a wholesaler, this is where you will promote other peoples products and sell them for a cut of the profit. Lets say for example you find a product you are interested in such as say, stereo speakers. You will then search for a wholesaler that will accept a contract with someone that deals in affiliates and ebay, with the proof that you are an ebay seller and can verify the account on ebay this should not be hard. Once you have landed this contract with the wholesaler, it is time to set up market strategies, and make sure they conform to what the wholesaler finds acceptable. Make a plan, check it twice and get to work selling.

Once you have the site available for the public to view, you need to weigh out some of the business expenses that will ensure you are not spending more than you are making. By having multiple payment options you can be sure you have all your sales basis covered. One of the biggest expenses you will encounter will be shipping and storage costs. It is not likely that you will have the space in your home to store a couple thousand pairs of home speakers, and this notion would require some sort of insurance that will be required in order for the wholesaler to relinquish the product to you. Any notion that you can rent space for cheap is improbable, and again will still require insurance as a measure of protection for you and the wholesaler. So what do you do? Well the answer is simple; you have the wholesaler keep the product, and ship when necessary to the customer when purchased.

This will keep the entire product in one place, alleviate the need to worry about shipping, and still ensure that you are able to make the sale. Once the product is sold to a customer, you simply place the order to the wholesaler, they will in turn send the product, charge you for the wholesale cost and the holding and shipping cost and the rest is yours to keep. This is not a difficult task and you do not even need to leave your seat. What you really need to do is research the product, and its competitors and finds a price that is reasonable, and will generate the best profit for what you are doing. What you are really doing is selling the goods like a salesman on a store floor. All the while not even leaving your home, you do not even really need to monitor this whole process, as the customer’s invoice will come in to you via e-mail.

How do I succeed selling on ebay?

February 27th, 2013 2 comments

How do I make a profit selling on ebay? I have plenty of stuff to sell. And please don’t tell me to read those books.

To do this, you should take good, clear pictures, and learn to write nice descriptions with all the important details.

If i see two people on ebay selling the same thing, i will almost always bid higher for the item that has the best, clearest pictures and a good description that’s not full of crap or disinformation or lies or fluff.

You probably should NOT sell your best items until you get practice on selling, and get some feedback built up.

Many years ago, i tried to sell an engagement ring and i only had 2 feedbacks. People would email me and demand that i use Escrow, and some even told me that they would bid if i had higher feedback score, etc. I ended up selling it for a lot less than I should have, because i was inexperienced.

SO, sell a few books and trinkets first to get the hang of eBAy. In the mean time, learn what the value of your better items is.

The best tool is to use eBay itself. Look under the completed listings section (Advanced Search) and see what similar items actually sold for.

Don’t outright copy people’s listings, because that’s illegal. But it’s perfectly ok to learn from them.

Now, if you want to truly make profits – that is.. buy things cheap and sell them for more than you paid for them.. the key is your BUYING skills. Buying and sourcing really has nothing to do with eBay. Ebay just gives you the platform from which to sell your stuff. The buying part is up to you. After you sell all your stuff from your home, the next step is to learn how to source products. And make sure you only sell things you’re knowledgeable about.
Sourcing ideas are garage sales, auctions, even retail stores if the item is marked down significantly. Selling things to foreigners is a good way to increase profits. There is more risk in shipping stuff to ENgland or Sweden or Germany, but these Europeans like American stuff and sometimes pay a lot for it. But sell things Domestically first, to get the hang of it. Then move worldwide.

Also, sometimes you can use eBay to buy stuff to resell on eBay. But usually you can’t do this profitably until you have lots of experience, and you are buying from someone who is not experienced.

Finally, you should learn what eBay’s fees are. They definitely eat into your profits, and are approximately 9 to 15% all together, including PayPal fees.
So, if you sell something for 50 dollars, eBay and PayPal will probably take up to 7 dollars right off the top 🙁
So, if you paid 43 dollars for that item and sold it for 50, you didn’t make ANY profit. Ebay took it all 🙁

Finally (again) – eventually you will need to get your business and tax paperwork filed. If you sell one or two things a year, no one will care. But if you sell hundreds of items a year, you will be owing taxes. And of course that eats into profits too, for Uncle Sam and your State.

Easy Way to Sell Information Products on Ebay

February 20th, 2013 5 comments

Selling information products on the Internet has been one of the biggest boom markets in the last 3 years. You can see that in the number of people selling ebooks, videos, and membership sites and so on, the Internet. Back in 1996 there were under 50 people selling information products online, now in 2005, there are literally millions of sites selling all sorts of information to all sorts of people.

So why are all these people flocking to sell information products online? Because of the promise of quick money from scam artists. Most people who are selling any sort of information online are usually resellers (affiliates or people who brought reprint rights to a product) or they created an ebook themselves. For more details go to www.auction-o-matics.com .What these people don’t understand is that the market is nearly saturated with the same books they are trying to sell. This of course leads to a price war, and then no one makes any money because they are all trying to undercut themselves to be the cheapest in the market. This is not a viable business idea.

So why would you want to get into creating information products and sell them on Ebay?

That’s a good question.

The reason why I’ve been profiting from selling information products is because I make myself different. I don’t go out there selling the same information, I go out there and break new ground with great products at great prices that people actually want to buy, and the best part is I usually spend nothing on advertising.

It still really is possible to make your fortune online with information products; you just have to find 3 things.

1) A hungry market

2) A good product

3) An unrelenting sales machine

All of this will be covered in this guide.

So what exactly are you going to learn in this guide? Here’s a quick run down of what I’m going to teach you, then we will get into business…

Why Sell Information Products On Ebay?

Ebay is the Mecca of online shopping. If you can’t find the product or category you are after on Ebay, it’s probably because it doesn’t exist.

Ebay literally has millions of people with cash in, hand coming into it’s online store everyday looking to buy what ever takes their fancy, and this in my opinion makes Ebay the bee’s knee’s when it comes to advertising online. For more information logon to www.auctions-profits.com .So few people actually think of Ebay as a viable way to make money with their information products. The few who do understand its power are making their fortunes online.

Let me give you a few examples. Connect to the Internet if you have not already and have a look at the following Ebay sellers and make sure to look at their feedback and see what they have sold!

What are the pros and cons about opening an eBay business?

February 5th, 2013 1 comment

Hello my name is Erick and my dad and I want to open up an eBay business selling old car parts. We have a bunch of old car parts and I wanted to know if it is worth opening a eBay business. Also, what are the pros and cons of opening it and if there is any tips on opening a business. Thank you.

Hi Erick

Opening an eBay business can be very rewarding and profitable. I would start small by listing a few parts and gaging your response from buyers as to the demand for your products.

You have 2 ways of listing your products,
1) to do the conventional auction listing.
2) Buy it now listing.

Both have their benefits and draw backs as you can imagine. I would be tempted in your case to go for the buy it now system as you are able to obtain a higher selling price I would imagine. Unless the parts you propose to sell are very rare and widely sort after.

Shipping is a very important point to think about. I would call your local UPS depot and talk to them to see what they can offer on shipping rates. Most shipping companies are always willing to talk about their prices and give brake’s to businesses who ship large volumes. Some of your smaller parts I would imagine could be shipped using USPS, Priority Mail. THey offer all the boxes free and you can pack quite a lot of weight into the boxes, up to 70lbs for a very reasonable rate.

Most eBay sellers miss a very simple listing point when selling items, that is to give good contact information. Buyers feel better and are willing to pay more if they feel they can contact the seller easy. I would not only allow them to contact me through eBay but I would also use a Skype telephone number. You can place a recorded message on it and get back to them later if necessary. This seems to give you more credibility and so more sales.

Photographs are another must have. The more pictures the better. Buyers want to see the item from many different angles. Don’t forget the buyer cant touch the item so they rely on the pictures to give them a better idea as to the condition of the item. I would not use eBay’s picture hosting as it is too expensive. Find a business’s that does picture hosting or a business the does both picture hosting and eBay templates. It will save you a lot of money over the course of a year.

eBay Templates! These are a must have. They make your listing look professional and neat. It is a proven fact that templates do increase the selling price of items. You can find many online businesses offering templates for you to use. Remember look for one that hosts your images as well as having templates. Expect to pay around $8.00 per month for their service. Some but not all of these businesses have a huge information system to help you sell on line so they are worth the investment. Also a lot offer the first 30 days free.

Payment is another option you need to consider very closely. Are you going to accept only PayPal? or will you allow customers to send you checks or money orders. The more payment options you have open the wider your market place is. A lot of older people do not like to use systems like PayPal and would rather send a check or money order. Obtaining your own payment gateway can be expensive when you first start. I f your business flourishes, then I would possibly consider one in about 12 months time.

Customers inquiries. These can be a pain, people do not tend to read the item description for some reason and will often send you a message asking about a feature you have explained in the listing. MAKE sure you always answer these questions quickly, as this shows you are a serious eBay seller and that your customers matter to you. I know it sounds stupid stating the obvious but you would be surprised at how many online sellers do not do it.

I currently sell on ebay but want to expand to start selling on Yahoo small business? Is this a good idea? What is better ebay or yahoo for selling stuff? Would people look more on yahoo or ebay for buying stuff they need? What would you do if you were me?

Depends on what you sell.

Ebay is for bargains. Ebay is good for Selling cheap low price products.

Yahoo is more for high end products. Similar with Amazon.

You can find high end products for drop shipping at :

What is the best resource to see what is selling best on ebay?

January 28th, 2013 1 comment

What is the best paid or unpaid resource to see what is selling best on ebay per category?

What you want to know,i think you want to know about what items is the best selling on eBay,Use the eBay Pulse to discover the day’s most-searched-for items. Although the list changes daily, it consistently includes electronics such as iPods, gaming consoles and cell phones. Items in the Pulse usually stay on the list for a while or reappear often, so they are some of the best items to sell on eBay. Electronics whose demand is greater than the retail supply, such as the latest iPhone or Xbox, will typically sell for sometimes hundreds of dollars more than the retail price. It’s usually worth your while to stand in the long lines and buy several of these hard-to-find gadgets. Paid online services, such as HammerTap and Terapeak, analyze eBay selling trends and offer insight on the most popular products.
Now i am gonna tell you about collectible items. There’s almost no limit to what some people will collect. eBay is a virtual smorgasbord for collectors seeking to score their next pieces. Although research through eBay’s Pulse or other seller tools can help guide you toward the most popular collectibles, don’t discount items in your garage or those sometimes found at yard sales and flea markets. If you have something that seems interesting, research it online to see if it is part of a collection. In addition to art, memorabilia and items such as baseball cards, people tend to collect antique pieces in good condition. These pieces include clothes, decorations, magazines, bottles, spoons, candlesticks, jewelry and picture frames.eBay shoppers are typically looking for a deal on clothes and other fashion items, such as handbags — especially designer options such as Coach or Versace. If you have an affordable fashion supplier, your items could be among the best selling on eBay — but only if you can drastically undercut the retailer’s price.you can try izzonet for know more about successful selling on eBay. http://www.izzonet.com/streetwise-ecommerce/tips-for-successful-selling-on-ebay

How much money can you make selling on ebay?

January 26th, 2013 3 comments

What potential is there for opening an ebay store?
If you have a store, is it your main source of income?
What are the most popular products sold on ebay?

Since eBay and Paypal both charge fees, I truly believe you have to find a niche product and specialize in that category. I chose wrestling shirts and decided to focus on having the biggest selection at competitive prices. There will ALWAYS be people that will try to sell it for less than you will, that is why you cannot focus on price alone.

I make my living by selling online but my 2 brothers use it as a second income. One sells Superhero costumes and the other sells foot insoles. Pick something you think would be fun or interesting.

Also, I don’t think you need to sell ONLY on eBay. Multichannel selling is the smartest thing to do now. Look at selling on other sites like Amazon.com and starting your own web site. eBay is a great place to start though. That is what I did.

I have included a bunch of links to get you started, including some of eBay hottest selling items and training materials.

What do i do on eBay’s instant sale?

January 24th, 2013 1 comment

I am selling a LG Voyager on eBay’s instant sale… This phone is in perfect condition but the phone won’t turn on… I think it might be the battery but i would be wrong… it could be the charger plug in spot for all i know.. i dont know though.. what do i say?

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in our Instant Sale program.
Since this phone does not turn on, it is not considered a functional phone. Therefore, when creating your order, you must answer the first question, ‘No’.
If you are trading in your charger with the phone, that may affect the value of the offer, so keep that in mind; however, any added accessories such as covers, cases etc, will not add to the offer.
As for the condition of the item, since we would consider this particular item a broken item (because it does not turn on and it cannot be tested by our evaluators for its functionality), you must choose the ‘Poor’ category.
Then, calculate your offer! From there, you will enter your information and receive your pre-paid FedEx shipping label to ship your item to us. Upon receipt of the item at our facility, it will be evaluated by our Instant Sale team and you will receive e-mails along the entire process.
Should there be any variance in the evaluation, you will get an e-mail with a counter offer, and an option to accept or decline that offer. If you decline, we can send your item back to you, free of charge.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact our Customer Service Department at 1-800-351-6864. We are happy to help!

Does anyone have any tips on how to successfully sell an item on ebay?

January 21st, 2013 11 comments

I have tried selling items before but they haven’t sold, does anyone have any good tips on selling an item!

Be truthful!! If an item you are selling has a mark on it, or is damaged,or faded etc you must put it in the description.Take a couple of good photos and include the the price when bought new.get the postage cost right too-a lot of sellers bump up their sales by adding too much on postage. I always get items properly weighed then add a bit for packing.Make sure you get your spellings right-so many sales are lost because of this cos the ‘search’ doesn’t pick them up.And make people think they are getting a bargain.I personally think that reserve prices put people off-I never bid on anything with one as you can usually find the same item without a reserve price.Be realistic, think about the minimum amount you would let the item sell for then use that as your starting bid.Auctions that start at 1p are great, but there’s always the chance that this could be your only bid and you end up paying out more in fees than what you sold it for.Always put at least one photo on-people won’t buy what they can’t see.Good Luck

Where from I can buy merchandise to sell in eBay ?

January 17th, 2013 7 comments

I like to sell goods to eBay but I do not from where I can buy goods to sell it in eBay ? Can anyone tell me ?
I wanted to say that I will not buy goods those will sell to ebay. I wanted to know who can give me the goods to sell on ebay and after selling goods he/she/they will get price of that goods and I will receive my commission selling her/his/their goods in ebay!

It seems you want to be a "consignment seller" or "trading assistant"

As in you want to list other peoples items and then charge a commission off the sale.

This business model tends to fail but if you want to pursue it -put up flyers around your community, get the word out that you offer this service.

Churches, colleges, supermarket bulletin boards.

I write about stuff like this in my blog here

http://sunforged.wordpress.com/category/ebay-selling-tips/

To be an official ebay "trading assistant" you need a feedback level of 100.

Auctiva.com offers free listing accounts that includes options to keep track of consignment sales.

Google "consignment sales" "trading assistant" and read my blogs as i write them, lol

But, it would be more profitable to sell your own product- check your local craigslist, buy and haggle for stuff you know will sell well and high- i averaged 1200 a month profits at one point buying only wiis and xboxes off craigslist for resale – usually with less that 15 auctions a month! my business has since expanded, but its a great start for seed money
