What and why should I sell on eBay to increase my feedback score rapidly and become a eBay Powerseller?
Hi. I am a new eBayer. But I wanna be a powerseller as well as increase my feedback score rapidly. I wanna know what I should sell the buyers will buy and leave feedback. I also wanna know how to be a powerseller? What are the requirenment? Thanks

It took me 7 months from the time I started using eBay to become a PowerSeller. The fastest way to become a PowerSeller IMO is to sell a large amount of inexpensive items.

There are many different levels of PowerSeller status. At the bottom of the PowerSeller food chain is bronze. To be a bronze PowerSeller, you need to sell at least 100 items a month or make at least $1,000 a month for 3 consecutive months. It’s really not hard to do but it does take a lot of work.

If you have zero feedback currently, the fastest way to increase your feedback is by buying a lot of cheap items from eBay. By cheap, I meant items that cost you no more than $1 for both the item and the shipping combined. I don’t recommend trying to sell until you have at least 10 positive feedback from buying. That will cost you a grand total of $10.

You have to understand that to be a PowerSeller means that you’ll be making eBay your business. It took me a lot of 8 hour days shipping small items to get me where I am today. It also took a significant investment in inventory.

There is not one magic product that can make everyone an eBay PowerSeller. It’s best if you specialize in selling a product that you know a lot about. This will save you tons of headaches when answering potential customers questions about your items. You’ll also need to find a wholesaler to buy the item from at a price low enough to be able to resale it for a profit. This is one of the hardest things involved with starting a successful eBay business.

Ebay and Paypal HELP How Much does it cost to list on Ebay and how much does Ebay and Paypal take if you sell?

November 18th, 2012 3 comments

How much does it cost to list an item on ebay? I have some rings I need to sell and Plan on putting on 2-3 pics of each ring. Also how much does ebay and/ or paypal take out if you sell it?

I have an ebay account with feedback. I have bought stuff, but have not sold anything.

Thanks for your help.

You have eBay listing fees, eBay final value fees if the item sales, and PayPal fees if you are paid via PayPal. I usually allow about 15%.

Basically the costs are the listing fees for most things to "auction" which are about 10 cents to $2 and the final value fee is about 9% plus PayPal fee if applicable, which is about 3% (see further down).

The fixed price fees really require reading the fees chart, but basically about 7% to 13% plus a 50 cent listing fee unless you have an eBay store. There are add-on options you can add like bold and highlight so as you can see, the fee costs are complicated, depending if it’s an auction or fixed priced listing and any extras. The link to the eBay fee page is below.

The PayPal information is:
There’s no fee to use PayPal to purchase goods or services. However, if you receive money for goods or services (such as from selling an item on eBay), the fee for each transaction is 2.9% plus $0.30 USD of the amount you receive. The link is below.

Here is some additional eBay seller info from their web site:

What are the requirements to sell on eBay? Provide us with a valid credit card, debit card, or bank account information. Let us know how you would like to pay your seller fees. Select the payment methods you’ll accept. Make sure your Feedback Profile is public. We also recommend that you become PayPal verified.

You can add one picture for free with each listing. (Gallery picture).

As a new member in ebay I need some feedback in order to sale my items – Do you have any tips ?
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180377956529&ssPageName=ADME:L:LCA:US:1123

Some buyers are reluctant to buy from someone with zero/low feedback.
Why dont you purchase some inexpensive items that you want/need & build up your feedback score so buyers know what you are like to trade with.

Start Making Money on Ebay

Ebay is a wonderful place to shop for new or used goods at prices that are easy on the wallet. It is the premiere online auction site where people list items that they want to sell, and is responsible for bringing millions of buyers and sellers together. Think of it as a huge, virtual garage sale where you can buy almost anything. If you’ve shopped for anything on eBay, you know firsthand how exciting it can be – placing a bid, watching the competition, and anticipating your winning bid. But there is another side of eBay that you may want to experience.

eBay Selling

You have probably heard of some people who make six-figure incomes selling products on eBay. Selling on eBay is not difficult, but it does demand a certain “online business” attitude, and a healthy dose of honesty. If you aren’t already selling on eBay, you will need to register and then create a seller’s account. Then browse through the “Seller’s Central” pages of eBay to learn the basics.

If you are new to selling, my initial advice would be to gain experience of eBay selling by cleaning out your garage or attic. Start by selling used goods, small appliances, wedding gifts you never use, old books (non-fiction ones are best), used sporting goods and clothing items. As you get more accustomed to the selling process, you can branch out into selling items on a larger scale.

Shipping

Shipping is an important aspect of running a successful eBay business. Purchase an inexpensive scale so that you can weigh your packages. You will need this info in order to print out shipping labels from home. Be sure to package items securely, and ship them in a timely fashion. This prevents damage while in transit, and ensures a happy customer. You can find great deals on shipping supplies bubble wrap, packing peanuts, shipping boxes, packing tape, scales, and shrink wrap on eBay.

Feedback

Feedback is a very important aspect of buying and selling on eBay. Every eBay user has a feedback page made up of comments from other eBay users with whom they have done business. Each time you receive positive feedback, eBay adds 1 point to your feedback rating. As you generate more sales, this number will continue to grow. Ebay’s feedback rating system allows buyers and sellers to comment on their transactions, and savvy eBayers will look at a seller’s feedback rating before making the decision to buy. It is of utmost importance to ensure that each transaction is successful, as this sets the basis of trust for all future transactions. In simple terms, customer confidence is increased when they see positive feedback and a good trading history, and this in turn can lead to an increase in bids. Answer all customer inquiries and issues with politeness and honesty, and your feedback rating will soar.

To the sellers that think EBAY’S NEW FEEDBACK SYSTEM in UNFAIR!?

June 14th, 2012 1 comment

Face it… Ebay is screwing their sellers. Do you want to get even? Start charging higher shipping rates and lower sale prices. This will give you a lower listing fee and lower FVF, which means you save money… but even better… Ebay doesn’t make as much off the sale.

Ebay announced they were lowering listing fees and giving free pics, but they made up for it by almost doubling the FVFs

And, now w/ this new feedback system, the buyers are walking all over the sellers. Here’s some problems I’ve incountered since:

~Increase in Non-Payment disputes. And, the buyers don’t care b/c they know they can’t get a negative for non-pay.
~Feedback comment can NOT conflict with a Positive Rating. In other words, you can NOT leave a "SLOW TO PAY" comment in feedback. If reported, Ebay will remove the comment.
~Buyer giving seller a negative and sabataging Star Ratings b/c a Non-Pay dispute was filed.
~Buyer demanding to return item b/c of buyer error

Do You have more???

I absolutely LOVED the irony of the email I received from eBay… to the effect of "consider offering free shipping to attract buyers.." Yeah RIIIIIGHT!!! There’s no such thing as "free shipping"… I found that so offensive there aren’t even words for it!
You have to watch how much you pad your shipping.. they are watching that now too…

The REAL question should be… "What sites are realistic alternatives to eBay?" … I’ve cut my buying/selling on there by at least 90%… abebooks, paperbackswap, etc are where I tend to do most of mine…

Make Easy Money on Ebay – How to Make Money Selling on Ebay

June 4th, 2012 No comments

Many people underestimate the potential of online ecommerce. You can sell anything from books to electronic to gardening equipment on the net. Ebay is the perfect marketplace to make easy money on ebay. With millions of dollars of transactions per day, you can make a full time living just by selling on ebay.

The first step to making money on ebay is to setup a seller account on ebay and if possible setup a storefront on ebay. It’s cheaper in the long run and you can put up more inventory for sale.

Ebay has made it very easy to setup your own store on Ebay. Even if you are not computer savvy, there are step by step guide that can guide you. After that, you need to learn how to advertise to attract targeted potential buyers to your auctions.

The key to learning how to make money on ebay is selecting the right ebay categories, the title and subtitle and the right keywords to attract visitors to your auction listings. There are various ebay tools such as the ebay research tool and other third party ebay research tools such as terapeak and hammertap that can assist you in this aspect.

Ebay also has several upgrade options to make your auction listings stand out but they cost money I would recommend you buy the upgrade to bold your ads at the minimum.

Another important aspect if you want to run a long term ebay business is your reputation. On ebay, it is transparent via the feedback option. Potential buyers can see the feedback from your previous customers and it can help you tremendously if you have a 100% positive ebay feedback.

There are several guides online that can teach you how to make easy money on ebay. Some provide genuine good information while many are just ebay scams and you should be careful who you learn from.

Am I responsible for misrepresentation on a sale of a vehicle when It was bought sight unseen?

May 29th, 2012 2 comments

I sold a vehicle on ebay auction site. I suggested to the buyer to have the vehicle inspected prior to sale. He declined. After purchase of the car, he now says I misrepresented the vehicle and wants his money back. I am not a dealer. Does this fall under The prudent care rule?
If the answer is "AS IS /WHERE IS" where is this written or implied?

To misrepresent the car, you lie about it. Did you do that? If so do the right thing. If you knew about some problemm but did not disclose it, you should still do the right thing. But if he assumed it had some accessory and did not ask, or if he thought that "no brakes" was "new brakes", then stand your ground. On eBay it is your feedback that determines your representation.

on ebay, is the seller forced to sell the item that was won?

February 12th, 2012 5 comments

i was wondering cause i just won a item for a VERY low price. does the seller have to sell me the item or can he just decline the sale?

What these other answers are missing is that yes a seller can refuse to sell you the item, BUT…. you then have the right to leave them negative feedback and report them to ebay. Negative feedback is very touchy, ebay is very very strict now with sellers and just a few of these will suspend or close their account, so no seller wants negative feedback. So this is very unlikely to happen. Always make sure you read the entire auction and make sure the shipping price isn’t ridiculously high to compensate for the low price on the item.

How To Build A Store On Ebay

January 8th, 2012 3 comments

eBay can be a very lucrative marketplace. You need to know that when you build a store on eBay it is not as simple as registering and creating your eBay store pages. There is a lot more involved if you want to achieve success.

Before you even go to the eBay website to open your eBay store and build it, you need to know what you are going to sell. However, even that is not enough.

You need to know how well your items are going to sell. It’s no use going through all the effort of building your store on eBay, and it brings in no sales.

For this you do need to do market research and determine what kind of demand there is for your products, what the competition is like, and what competitive pricing would be.

The next thing you need to consider is your eBay feedback rating. eBay buyers are very wary of eBay sellers with a very low number of feedbacks against their name.

If your eBay id has only a few feedbacks, then spend some time buying and selling items on eBay without an eBay store until you have built up a solid feedback score.

Once you’ve done this, you are ready to build a store on eBay.

The next step is to register and open your eBay store on eBay. Once your store exists, you need to add what they call store inventory auction listings. These are auction listings that do not expire like regular auction listings. Consider those like items you would always have on display on your virtual product racks until someone buys them.

Once you get to this point of building your store on eBay, it is not the point to sit back and wait for sales. You might wait forever and get zero sales.

This is the time that you need to jump in and furiously market and promote your eBay store.

There are several ways you can market your eBay store. One way is to always have regular eBay auction listings that appear in the eBay searches. Always include a link to your eBay store in those auction listings.

Another way of marketing your eBay store is to put out a press release, which you can do free of charge on several websites. Yet another way is to advertise in your local community via flyers, business cards and classified ads.

Another way is to start your own blog where you write about topics relevant to your eBay store and types of products that you sell. You would then include several links back to your eBay store from your blog.

I hope you see that how to build a store on eBay involves much more than following the step-by-step instructions on the eBay website. That is the easiest and quickest part of building your eBay store.

The most work and the secret to your success lies in what you do before and after you have built your store on eBay.
