I need $2,500.00 to get myself out of trouble. Anyway to do it?

February 9th, 2013 4 comments

I am beyond in debt my credit score is 441 I do not want to use one of those check cashing places. is there any company out there that would give me a loan? The credit cards I have now, I pay on time but I think the damage is done.

With a credit score of 441, NO ONE is going to loan you any money (save a loan shark)

but not to worry it just means that you have to either earn more or spend less…..

If you cannot get another job or have a garage sale or sell things on ebay
you can cut your expenses…..get rid of cable or at least all of the pay channels

turn down the water heater settings
wear more clothing to bed so that you can have the house cooler in the winter
make a list for the grocery store and buy food for the week
take your lunch to work
on the weekends, entertain at your house
rent movies from the library
read the paper and find a few free or cost things to entertain you on the weekends

Give blood (plasma) by finding the donation place in your phone book….most of the winos and school kids go there so plan the hour accordingly…. if you go once per week you can make $150 a month and you can use that entire amount to pay down your debt….

Decline ALL wedding invitations unless it is immediate family
for birthdays, give the gift of your time (spend the day with the person, make dinner, run errands etc)
Dont be embarrassed to tell your loved ones what is going on so that they can help. Most have been there (with a tight budget) and will help you stay on track by finding lower cost alternatives for fun…
But most importantly, figure out how you got into this mess….
did you spend money that you did not have thinking you would pay it back later, did you try to impress a girl, do you impluse shop? until you figure out honestly how you got there, you will repeat this situation again
also
YOU MUST STOP using the cards TODAY

Where did the $ come from to pay for your wedding?

December 21st, 2012 19 comments

I’m having a hard time coming up with money period for my wedding. I feel like I’ve cut costs like crazy already and baring gettin’ hitched at the JP or running off to Vegas or the Carib which just isn’t my dream wedding, I don’t know what to do. I have been saving $ from each paycheck and having garage sale after garage sale. So, where did the money come from for you to get married? Did you pay for it yourself? Parents pitched in? How did you get others to help you? Any real answers from your experience would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

My fiance and I paid for our wedding ourselves. We simply paid cash from our savings or from our paychecks.. with zero amount being billed to credit cards. My in-laws insisted in paying towards the wedding, even though we declined over and over, they wanted to pay for luxuries that we would otherwise gone without. They paid for the limo, our hotel accomodations, the DJ , the photographer, postage, caligraphy, miscelaneous stationary, tips and the rehearsal dinner. All together they paid $10k, I paid $10k and my fiance paid $10k.

Good luck

TIP: Do not buy from any wedding stores or vendors. Buy online, ebay, craigslist or directly from the manufacturer. Off season (october -April) venues are cheaper. Friday and Sunday you can get even more deals.. so you can score a greta deal on DJ.s photographers and venues ,say a Sunday during the winter. Ask for discounts… you will be suprised! Good luck

What are some good things to sell on eBay?

November 14th, 2012 4 comments

I have already sold clothes on eBay, but am looking to make a bit more of a profit. I noticed that places like Marshall’s have True Religion and 7 for All Mankind jeans for $99.00. Could I make a profit by selling them on eBay NWT? What are other good things to buy and sell for profit?

People are buying those popular brands, but they’re paying with credit cards. Unless you are a full blown retail operation and can afford to buy in bulk to get wholesale prices, and pay the tab (3%) by using mastercard/or visa on your ebay sales, you should stay away from designer stuff that will go out of style in a matter of months. You want to keep your costs down, so why not consider secondhand merchandise. Not ratty tatty, but unique and rare items.

Do you need paypal to sell items on Ebay?

November 10th, 2012 7 comments

I want to start selling items on Ebay (sports tickets) and I was wondering if paypal is the only option for payments? Is it 100 % secure? I know thousands, probably millions, use paypal and never have problems but I’m a little skeptical with the wiring of money through credit cards. Also, how does the shipping work with Ebay? Is the seller responsible for paying for shipping? Is it easier to sell tickets on broker sites or Ebay?

Also, does Ebay get a percent commission on items sold, and if so, how much?

Thanks everyone!

No – you do not need Paypal to sell on eBay, but your sales will be significantly slower (e.g. have to wait in the mail for checks & money orders to arrive & clear). I am an eBay buyer and the seller taking Paypal is one of the first things I look out when considering an item. I do not buy otherwise.

I have never had a problem with Paypal. It isn’t just credit cards…it directly debits your checking account if that is the method chosen.

Shipping through eBay is whatever you want it to be. You charge what you want. Either put a weight into your listing or put a flat shipping dollar amount. It is your choice.

No, the buyer pays for shipping per the seller’s listing. Some sellers overcharge for shipping to make up the different in what they hoped to get for th item. For example, you could charge $8 shipping for a pair of sports ticket that could ship for $1. You’ve just made $7 more than you would have otherwise.

No idea about the question where it is easier to sell tickets.

Yes, eBay (and Paypal) both get a percentage of your sale. Paypal, obviously, only if you use them. eBay gets a listing fee. For me, it is normally around 60 cents. Then they get a percentage of the final sale amount as well. I forget how much it is, but it is all on their site.

File Chapter 7 or be a slave for 6+ years?

July 3rd, 2012 3 comments

I have $35,000 in credit card debt. I am unable to find work in Michigan except selling on eBay, which is how I amassed most of my debt. I did well for a couple of years, but loss of sources, increased competition and slow sales over the past 2 years have left me living with my parents and barely able to make my minimum payments. I am not using my credit cards at all, and literally have no money left after bills, food and rent. (I do pay rent, which helps my Mom – it was actually her idea that I move home.) According to the online credit calculators, at my current payments, it will take me more than 6 years to pay off all my cards, that is if I can find the money. Should I just go ahead and file Chapter 7, since I’m probably stuck at my Mom’s house for the next several years, and will be lucky to find a job at Target? Would a Chapter 7 hurt my chances at finding a crappy minimum wage job? After being self-employed four years, I don’t have the resume to get a good job anyway.

Yeah eBay’s new fees hurt tons of folks… Chapter 7 may be a GOOD idea at this point in time, but you need to talk to a lawyer about it, and it will cost a few grand to get everything done. But in the end, you wont have the credit card bill anymore. You need a GOOD lawyer because the way Chapter 7 is structured nowadays, some or all of your credit card debt may follow you forever – so a good lawyer will make sure that does not happen to you.

If you have a lot of stock left, and still have your eBay store running, even if limping along, you may want to instead look at selling your entire business – the eBay store, the stock and the business name. A pre-established business and someone with some fresh ideas may make a good match. Maybe someone will be willing to pay you $40k for everything or something like that.

ANOTHER quick Paypal question – selling on Ebay?

June 27th, 2012 2 comments

This is the first item I’ve sold. I just read on Paypal’s site that Paypal doesn’t accept payments from credit cards on other Paypal accounts? What does this even mean? Can they pay me through Paypal or not? My Paypal is set up with a debit card (Paypal is the middleman for my bank account.) So far no paymnet has gone through that I can see though on Ebay the "1 item awaiting payment" message is gone. So maybe a pymnt didn’t go through? Help!
No, I mean on the Paypal site. It’s in the section about receiving payments. I assume I misread because I’ve been able to pay for things fine on Paypal, but I understood it as if the other person has a credit card hooked up to Paypal versus a debit card, you pay not be able to receive $ from them that way. Does that make sense?

I have a PayPal account with both a credit card and a bank account linked. When I buy on eBay I can choose which account I pay from. Every payment I make, from either account, goes through to the seller with no problem. Have you checked your PayPal account for a payment pending to accept? It may be that the seller hasn’t paid or as a new seller your payment is on hold for 21 days. This is a PayPal rule for new sellers. I think you’ll find the payment has been made but is on hold because you are a new seller. Once you load up the tracking details and the buyer leaves feedback the money will be released if 21 days hasn’t passed. You need to get your seller history up in numbers before PayPal relaxes a bit!

Why Your eBay Business Needs PayPal

January 8th, 2012 2 comments

While it seems like a no brainer, there are still dropshippers who neglect to use the leverage that PayPal brings to their eBay business. In today’s online marketplace, this feature is seen by many as a necessity, and without it, dropshippers leave a large percentage of their potential profits on the table.

Even before eBay acquired PayPal, the two companies were used hand in hand by both buyers and sellers on the internet. Today, as one company, the two interact more than ever, and accepting PayPal payments is absolutely crucial for your eBay business. If a dropshipper neglects to accept PayPal as a means of payment for his or her items, he or she makes it much harder to create a steady income stream from dropshipping, and achieving Powerseller status becomes a much more difficult task.

PayPal makes eBay transactions incredibly easy. Because many PayPal accounts are already funded with cash, most eBay buyers don’t even see the money that leaves their accounts. This smooth, easy payment process encourages sales. Those who use PayPal prefer to use it over credit cards or personal checks, because it is much faster and easier for the buyer. Therefore, if you do not accept PayPal payments in your auctions, you are likely to be passed over by perspective buyers, and they will buy from someone who accepts PayPal payment even if the price is higher. Yes, many will pay more for the luxury of paying via PayPal. Therefore, if YOU are the one that accepts this type of payment, and your competitor does not, you may even receive a higher price.

However, if you neglect to accept PayPal payments, there were no doubt be less people bidding on your item, which naturally decreases the amount that you will receive for you product. Also, remember that people are sometimes more likely to bid on items that already have several bids, and accepting PayPal can encourage this idea to work in your favor.

Using PayPal is also beneficial to you because it allows you to receive payment much faster and, therefore, gives you the green light to ship sooner. Faster shipment means the potential of receiving a better feedback rating, and it snowballs from there. PayPal also allows you deposit the funds directly into your bank account. You could literally sell an item on eBay and have the money in your hand in less than an hour.

If you insist on only accepting personal checks and other slow methods of payments, you will not receive as many bids. In return, you will not get as much as you could for your items. You will make fewer sales, and payment will be slower. In return, you will receive fewer points for positive feedback, and your growth will be stunted.

If you want to seriously compete in the eBay marketplace and use dropshipping as a means to create a stream of income, implementing PayPal into your business is not only necessary, but absolutely essential to your success.
