Paypal declines my credit card?

February 5th, 2013 1 comment

I was adding a Paypal account to my Xbox account. Everytime I click "Add Paypal", i sign in but then it asks me to add a new card when on top it says "You have one active card" but it doesn’t let me use it.
This is very frustrating.

Paypal’s cards are horrible. Had a very similar problem myself.

To use the card as a credit card, you need to call the customer service line on the back of the card and ask that the card be reactivated. Then they’ll send you a letter turning you down. Then you call again and say that you got a letter saying your card can’t be activated. Then they activate it.

Oh, but your credit limit is ungodly low. Mine was $127. I spend over $3,000 a month on my Visa, have a $2,000 cash balance from ebay sales on the paypal card – and paypal gives me a $127 credit limit… Um, okay.

I’d use a different card for your Xbox account.

How do i know how much postage and packaging items to stock up on when selling items on Ebay?

I have quite alot to sell. How do i know what a wise purchase of bubblewrap, rolls of brown paper and alsortment of envelopes i would clearly need, without running out during a sale?

If you start off with a few rolls of brown tape, a couple of rolls of clear sellotape, some grey wrapping bags in medium size (cut them down when they arereally to big and stick them with sellotape), a roll of bubble wrap and also start saving boxes for the bigger things. If using padded enveloppes calculate the shipping accordingly and buy them as you sell.
It all depends on what you are selling. Clothes can be put in a grey post bag but breakable will need proper cardboard boxes and padding. I use foam personally. It costs me an arm and a leg but i recoup it through shipping charges. if you sell books beware of the corners and sometimes it pays to reinforce paperback with sturdy cardboard to prevent them bending.
FRAGILE and DO NOT BEND stickers might come in handy too.
Go to the post office and get ‘proof of delivery’ cards, airmail stickers and also custom stickers for outside the EU.

Oh and thumbs up to the person that mentioned scales. get an electronic set that goes up to about 2 kg. They are not cheap but worth every penny if you sell regularly. Anything heavier than 2kg I weigh on my bathroom scales.

Yugioh question…..Buying/Selling?

January 13th, 2013 2 comments

I have recently gotten a secret rare Vennominaga the deity of poisonous snakes from a tactical evolution blister box . i looked it up on yugico and it says that its worth around 45 dollars. and ive seen people sell it for a few bucks more…. will people actually buy a 45 dollar vennominaga?
first off, yugico DOES get there statistics from ebay and im selling all my cards first off because of the whole sopa thing and i’m saving up for a car.

The secret version of Vennominaga the Deity of Poisonous Snakes currently goes for around 20-25 dollars. I’ve been playing the game for a long time and I can say that yugico is one of the worst sites to use as a price guide. They usually over value the cards as they don’t follow ebay or other popular sites to buy cards off of. I don’t know where the site gets its statistics off of but they’re pretty inaccurate. Lets take Dragged Down Into the Grave for an example. They say its going up. In reality, it’s been dropping slowly but surely for the past month. These guys are bad at evaluating prices. Your best resource to find prices is ebay.com or trollandtoad.com.

However, due to the bill that may be passed(sopa), ebay may be eventually shut down(or at least blocked in the us).

It may be hard to sell it as Vennominaga recently got reprinted as an Ultra rare. I’d suggest trying to sell it for around 22.

Good luck selling your cards.

But it’s manually updated. They’re to slow:P Look at the sources i sited above. Dragged down? 1 month to respond? Too slowww:P If you wish to use this though, make sure the people you’re trading with do the same. Again, good luck with your sales/trades. Just saying that on ebay it goes for 20-25:) See here:

Top one there is currently 23 bucks.

BTW, currently, there have been 3 secret vennominagas sold in the past 2 months.

Would you buy handmade products on ebay and if so what?

December 12th, 2012 17 comments

My boyfriend is a talented artist and he’s at university so is a little strapped for cash. What handmade products might you buy on ebay? Cards, paintings etc. Could you suggest anything he could make and sell?

Selling on eBay is a difficult task and requires a lot of time, dedication and patience; however for most people it’s fun and take it in a positive way.

How can this be legal for Paypal?

September 20th, 2012 4 comments

I’m 20 years old and sold a few things on ebay recently.
I never received the funds however because I apparently owe Paypal money from 6 years ago.

When I was 14 I had a debit card. I wasn’t too responsible with it even though my mother worked at a bank.
I used this card to try to buy something on eBay. I figured it would work because I was 14.
Long story short the card was declined and no money was withdrawn from my account (other than the overdraft fee which I had just learned about as a result of the attempted transaction)
The account was closed because I clearly was too young to have one anyway.

Paypal said that the man that I bought the PS3 from 6 years ago had sent the merchandise yet I never received it.
14 year old me was accused for fraud because I had tried to buy something I didn’t have funds for.
I was just oblivious to how bank accounts and cards and everything worked so I hadn’t done any of this intentionally.
So Paypal payed the seller of the item and he never sent the item. I wasn’t aware of this at the time because, once again, I was 14 and I never checked my email so how was I to know I owed them money back then? Now its 6 years too late and they want me to pay $380. I never got the item so why should I pay them a dime?

Now in my recent sales (on a separate account)
Paypal held funds with no warning apparently they linked my two accounts.
The first one I created when I was 14. So how am I legally bound by whatever I may have accepted back then?
They won’t even let me contact the seller who stole the money and the item.
They won’t even contact him. They fronted him the money he didn’t even deserve because he never sent anything. Now I’m out cash because they think I owe them.

Is there any way to stick it to paypal and appeal this? Or do I have to let myself be scammed?
I did give them a real card number. I didn’t knowingly ignore emails saying I needed to pay them. There is no notifier of if the recipient actually read an email someone else had sent. They just sent emails to my spam/website login address. I had no reason to check those.

I ONLY lied about being 18. I wasn’t 18 and therefore not bound by their contract.
I figured that I never received the item because I didn’t pay for it. That only makes sense.

The only way around getting use out of paypal without paying is using a false name but I’m pretty sure that is illegal.

This one is tricky, you made a purchase but your card was declined. Paypal didn’t decline your card, your bank did. So, Paypal is not at fault on that one.

Paypal guarantees a sale and the funds, which is why they were required to still pay the sender. You could have contested at that time that you never received the item, but you were too ignorant to check your email (which is a lie, you saw those emails and decided not to follow up).

You do owe Paypal money, regardless of whether the item was actually sent. Go back and read the Paypal contract.

You aren’t getting scammed. You tried to scam Paypal (albeit, 6 years ago and as a minor) and now they are getting payback. Debts cannot be collected after 7 years (similar to statute of limitations) in most jurisdictions. If you would have waited another year, you might have been fine.
