What are some good or unique ideas for items to sell on eBay?

March 3rd, 2013 2 comments

What are some good or unique ideas for items to sell on eBay? I live in south Louisiana and I’m possibly looking for good ideas relating to things that we have access to locally that are harder to find in other parts of the country.

Thanks for the help!

Try getting little trinkets, and stuff that are rare to find around your area! They’ll catch eyes!
like an 1950’s toy, or a CD (records) from the 50’s.
maybe antiques? but make sure they’re in good condition.
And since they’re for other countries, this will be even more interesting for them.!

or sell souviniers that people would only find there, like go visit the beach, they should have some stuff there!

Hope this helped!

STORAGE UNIT AUCTION FINDS SELLING ON EBAY AND BIG THANKS AND SHOUT OUT!!!

June 18th, 2012 12 comments

http://www.youtube.com/user/bluegeno Huge thanks to everyone! Came across a couple of finds while sorting thru some cd’s. Dont disregard the small stuff. Always be checking prices and sales in what you have. You never know!!!

About me and my Channel: Like some of you reading this I have been involved in the reselling business in one form or another since early childhood. I like to use the term entrepreneur. One of my first ways to make money as a kid was mowing lawns. I worked very hard one summer to save up for a VCR (when they used to be very expensive!). I have always enjoyed yard sales, garage sales, auctions, etc even as a kid. I used to tag along with my father to auto auctions, estate sales, and the occasional storage unit auction. The older I got the more involved I became at making money for myself. I loved the idea of being self-employed, buying, selling, meeting people, and basically hunting for treasure! Fast forward to today I am primarily involved self storage unit auctions, yard sales, estate sales, making money, selling on ebay, selling on craigslist, and any other way to make an extra income. I say extra income because I do currently have a full time career which pays the “bills”. My true passion however is everything mentioned above. When you are doing something you love then it is never work! I started my channel out of pure entertainment for myself and quickly got hooked into the youtube community. I enjoy making videos and sharing with everyone pages out of my life in the storage auction, picker, reselling, and make money world.
Thank you for all the love and support you have given me thus far!

Ebay Sales for the Week of August 14-20, 2011

June 11th, 2012 7 comments

My Ebay sales for August 14-20, 2011. Pretty slow week — I think people are busy getting their kids ready to school. I have put a number of items on sale in my Ebay Store — anywhere from 25 to 50 percent off. Trying one last time to move out some slow sellers before I decide whether or now I will relist them. I already have a pile started for next year’s garage sale!

Who Uses Ebay and Why

eBay is the number one international market place for all types of products over the Internet. eBay is an online retailer or ‘e-tailer’ that offers people the opportunity to sell and buy goods online. The site charges a commission on sales as well as a charge for listing. eBay typically works through an auction model – i.e. items are auctioned to the highest bidder. The seller can also specify a price below which the item cannot be purchased. You can find almost anything on eBay, and a large proportion of online shoppers know about this website.

eBay is used mostly by small start up businesses, many of which operate from home. There are a number of success stories on eBay, since it enables people to set up a small business and grow it into an online shop. There are actually businesses making millions of dollars, all through their eBay store. The typical success story runs like this: a regular person, just like you and me, looking for a great product, hits on one either on his own or through an eBay search for the hottest items. He finds a source for it and puts it up for auction on eBay. As his sales grow, he sets up a shop on eBay and uses the item listings on eBay to drive traffic to his site. This can be antiques, designer bag replicas, DVDs, almost anything. The market is virtually limitless.

The reason for the popularity of eBay is the convenience and cost savings. You can start from your own home, with absolutely no investment – you don’t even have to give up your day job. Further, due to its wide network, eBay can give your products and your online business much needed visibility for a small cost. The amount of effort and money you would expend on marketing for even an online business, to create awareness for your product, would be much greater. A huge Internet population shops here, so it’s like having your product on display at the biggest department store in the world, except that it would be much easier for a buyer to find it.

Further, people who sell on eBay claim that it is a large, helpful community that will enable you to learn from your peers and grow as an online business owner. There is an eBay University, chat rooms and forums for members to interact and educate themselves through others’ experiences. Also, since you have not invested much, there is room to make mistakes and learn as you grow.

eBay has all the technology in place that helps you to have your own online business, without the hassles and knowledge required to run a site. It is a very user friendly site and makes the buyer’s experience comfortable, which is important for your online business. For instance, eBay has features that allow a buyer to place a maximum bid on an item and automatically monitor the activity on the item till bidding closes. So selling is made that much easier for you on eBay.

Ebay Sales & Pickups for the Week of August 21-27, 2011

January 8th, 2012 18 comments

My Ebay sales and garage sale/thrift store pickups for the week of August 21-27, 2011. Very, very slow week of sales with back-to-school, end-of-summer, and Hurricane Irene on the East Coast. I’m not risking running auctions until after Labor Day, so for now I am just trying to stock my Ebay Store.

Ebay Sales 2009

November 7th, 2011 No comments

Web based auctions and retailing is major home business and growing just about every year. eBay is the quantity 1 web-site for people to sell items and merchandise on the online. If you are thinking about selling on eBay, 1 question that you could possibly have is if you are necessary to pay income tax on your sales This post should certainly answer your concerns.

If you auction a couple of private items on eBay just about every now and then that represent merchandise that would otherwise be sold at a garage sale, you have no tax liability and no added filing requirement. Standard items that might possibly have been up in the attic or not made use of in a when probably are worth much less than what you paid for them so there is no taxable acquire. The loss on these items is also not deductible.

The rule is numerous if you sell an item that has appreciated due to the fact it came into your possession. Selling art or antiques that have gone up in value drastically due to the fact acquisition and sold for a profit have to be reported. They will be reported either as a capital acquire on Schedule D or on Schedule C if you are engaged in an web based home business. A smaller acquire on a novelty item is a further matter. For example, if you purchased a GI Joe for $ten and sell it for $100, you have a prospective capital acquire that could be reported. IRS is not probably to be concerned more than a thing smaller like a $90 acquire on a GI Joe. If you have 1 or two such sales like that a year, it is not going to be an concern even if in theory it is a taxable acquire. But an individual selling GI Joe action figures on a common basis as portion of a profit searching for venture would have a prospective IRS situation if they did not incorporate the income on Schedule C of their return. Any legitimate home business expenditures could be deducted from the profit on goods sold of an web based auction home business.

At this point a distinction have to be created among an web based home business and a hobby. A individual who buys items for resale and is attempting to make a profit in web based auctions might possibly have a legitimate home business. In spite of this, if an individual files a Schedule C with their return for an web based home business and reports a loss year just after year, IRS might possibly disallow the losses and declare that activity a hobby. The components that play into this distinction are outlined in IRS Publication 535 (Home business Expenditures). In a nutshell, common web based selling might possibly be a hobby if there is no clear profit motive. If your web based sales are a hobby, the expenditures can not exceed the income from sales for tax loss purposes. While an itemized deduction on Schedule A could possibly be taken by some aggressive people, I would not advise it. An IRS audit is no enjoyable.

A further factor to look into is no matter if or not items you sell had been depreciated for tax purposes in a prior year on your tax return. The sale of workplace equipment or vehicles that had been made use of in home business and had been topic to prior depreciation might possibly result in a necessary recapture of depreciation, capital gains or ordinary income. See a CPA, Enrolled Agent, or Accredited Tax Advisor for support with preparation of your federal income tax should certainly you have concerns about the taxation of web based auctions.
