How much capital to start an online auction site?

January 5th, 2013 1 comment

How much capital do I need to start my online auction site, I have a very niche market (Don’t want to say it) and I think I could do it all by myself, if not just paying for someone to make the code for the auction and then being done with it. (is it that complicated to set up the actual website)

so advertising not withstanding how much capital should I start with, I know ill probably need more then the 10.99 to register a Godaddy site.

hey..
for the business you described above needs some capital because you by yourself alone cant do each and everything for your website to generate business. Specially when today there is a lot of competition in every category business online.
so, if you are looking for an online business online or for an online auction site than for this you need : 1 good designed ad developed website including all the necessary factors for online business for eg. URLs for the pages for your site should be search engine friendly, your site structure , internal navigation, GUIs, content, keywords, or keyphrases. My means to say is that your complete site should be a perfect site from search engine point of views. because most of the internet users comes on the sites like yours through search engines, so, you can choose a company which is too good from search engine optimization point of view also.

What are the draw backs of advertising my house for sale on ebay?

December 12th, 2012 3 comments

If I advertise my house for auction say for £245,000 what percentage would ebay take? Do you know of anyone who has done this successfully? Navigated ebay site and cant find the answer.

Thanks for your help.

you are playing with fire advertising your home on e-bay unless you put a reserve on the property and so many cranks will be able to view for criminal reasons, estate agents log visitors viewing homes for prevention of criminal activities as much as possible.e-bay charges are high it all depends on how much the item goes for,if you want to auction then put it through a legal auction house where you know the charges in advance.i think if a person does not have a mortgage at the time of purchase then they have 7 days to finalise one.personally i would not go down the avenue of e-bay will get loads of silly bids, that why i removed myself from e-bay.

What are the best items to sell on ebay?

November 6th, 2012 5 comments

What has a high value now that wasn’t 5 years ago or longer.

Please help im new to ebay

As the one answerer said – go to ebay and do an advanced search to search "only ended items" and look at different categories and you can pretty much see right away what sells and what doesn’t.

Shipping cost has a lot to do with perceived value..so make sure you know your shipping cost and total costs against what it would cost for the person to get it locally.

Used electronics seem to be hot..especially laptops..computer people are not afraid to order off the computer – and online sales are growing despite the recession…

I was looking for Wonder Woman stuff for my daughter and it was SOOOO expensive..and things were always being bid on…if you’re going to do collectibles..make sure you examine what collectibles are hot and what’s not..there’s a lot of things people call "collectibles" that are junk – and there’s a lot that have a high value – but the person who might buy it isn’t looking on ebay or hasn’t seen the ad..and since you’d have to keep the ad up for a while, it might not be cost effective to sell it on ebay. You want things that have a large audience. Or have a very very targeted marketing program supplemented by website advertising, PPC, etc. etc.

Auto stuff has picked up over the years..and that category has grown…

I also bet there’s some ebay statistics on the web with best selling categories, highest growth, etc.

Remember that advertising outside of ebay in the search engiens can also have a great deal to do with your level of success.

Start with looking at completed Ebay sales and investigating sales from that point of view…

eBay issues shipping label unclear

September 3rd, 2012 1 comment

In this video I show that there are problems you will encounter as a seller on eBay. This example is a buyer with no real address to ship the product to. I have called eBay and ask that they remove it; and, I have told them that I would rather not deal with trying to figure it out as it is not worth my time for the cost. I have also asked eBay to stop these problems at their servers and do not send any buyers to me unless all their credentials are verified. eBay expects me to follow their guide-lines and file a non-paying bidder alert against this person. This response is typical out of eBay as if all answers and causes are user created. “I say set the server up to catch these problems and return it to the user in question when the information is parsed at eBay”. eBay employees act as if punishing the people is the answer to the whole problem and that few command lines on the server to redirect these problem account back to the user is not going to help. This would be a long term lasting solution to this problem. The people at eBay are hard headed and refuse to budge. These type of problems will persist until eBay decide to control the bug that are built in its system. The reason this continues is that eBay feels that it will force a sell whereas if returned to the user before the purchase is complete then the revenue would be lost, possibly for good. At this point I am forced to deal with this matter and file a dead-beat bidder against this person. In the mean time eBay leaves the opportunity with this buyer to file a rating on my sellers profile.
Then eBay also holds my money as extortion to again force me to comply with their policy to try to contact this buyer and work this out. I would rather not as the profit is already lost and so is my time. eBay tells us sellers that we have to or we do not get our final value fee returned. I want everyone of you to look at the sales report. There was no money turned over to me to begin with.
The screen capture was made with Camtasia by TechSmith. This is a powerful screen capture tool and easy to use easy to figure out without having to read through tons on manuals. I encourage all you to get a screen capture tool like this one or Snagit also by TechSmith. Then I want you to post your eBay issues right along side mine.
One more thing, the videos in this series sometimes have content that is covered in other videos. Check here at the bottom and I can help you avoid wasting time by pointing out what video contain similar content. I am producing videos like in this manner; so that, the basic topic can be covered quickly in a short video. This way you can choose to watch the short video and get a basic idea of the topic. The other videos with the same topic covered you will find are longer in length; these video are more involved and cover the topic with more detail. I will suggest to you here which videos are related; and, I will suggest the one that is choice. For this mini series, eBay shipping issues, the choice video is:
‘Three examples of eBay shipping issues and remedies for them’
The similar video is: ‘Problems with eBay shipping three examples you can not avoid’
and this one is your quick overview of the topic.
This video is related to a set of video in this series. Those other videos read eBay listings and eBay completed listing.
The must see videos of the set are:

‘eBay completed listing test 9d shows buyers view intermittent results in sales search’

This video is nearly the same as the next video. The difference is that all tests in the test 9* series were done in Chrome

and all tests in the test 8* series were done in FireFox.

‘eBay completed listing test 8d shows buyers view intermittent results in sales search’

Very interesting is the set :

‘eBay completed listing test 8 and 9 shows buyers view ” NO ” results in sales search’

Then other videos that eBay sellers must see are:

‘eBay Completed Listings 37 $3.00 items not in search results’

Tests 7, 6 and 5 you can see progression of the testing procedures and the various results that occur. These videos are shorter than the 8 and 9 sequences. This is a bonus if you do not have much time. You can get a quick overview of the concepts.

Must see are also tests 4, 3, and 2. These are more specific to the question written in the title; and, those videos are shorter.

Be sure to subscribe; so that, as I post more videos you will see the new content and see interesting topics here. I have releases on computer topics that are very interesting coming up. Topics, on the internet in 1969. Yes, I say there was a functioning internet in 1969. Also, I am going to show you PayPal scammers and how to recognise a spearFish with an actual attempt that was tried on me. One topic I will cover is how to speed up your internet searches by avoiding opening results that will waste your time. So, again, subscribe and check it out.

In a deal announced this morning, eBay has agreed to sell Internet calling service Skype to a group of investors for $1.9 billion in cash, $125 million in short-term debt, and it will retain a 35% stake in the company.
Ford said today its U.S. sales in August rose 17.2 percent over last year, fueled by the Cash for Clunkers program. Meanwhile, low supplies of fuel-efficient vehicles at Chrysler kept that automaker from taking full advantage of the program.

Bank of America is offering to repay part of the government bailout money, starting with the $20 billion it received in January to help with the Merrill Lynch acquisition. The repayment would remove the bank from the list of “exceptional” aid recipients, a designation that brings more congressional scrutiny.

The sluggish economy took a toll on U.S. advertising spending in the first half of 2009 to the tune of a 15.4% decline, Nielsen announced today, reflecting the steep declines at television stations, newspapers, national and local magazines alike.

According to a J.D. Power and Associates poll released today, it seems U.S. consumers satisfaction with credit cards plummeted in 2009, driven by anger due to more fees and higher interest rates as the same companies started receiving billions of dollars of taxpayer money in federal bailouts.
