How can i attract more people to bid on my items on Ebay?

I got a few things up now and no-one really seems to be bidding
Any hints or tips to maximise bids?

You can pay for extra features such as having your item listed in bold and with a picture, items with a picture will get looked at before an item without.

The title of your item should be short, snappy and immediately explain what you are selling.

eg PS3 with 2 controllers and 2 games.
Opposed to: Computer console with accessories.

Write your description in colours and bold or italics, make your description short and snappy so buyers get the essential info straight away.

Some other hints and tips:

Look around at what other people are selling and see how they are displaying their goods.

If you are new to ebay and/or have a low rating on ebay people might dubious to buy something off you especially if you are selling something that is very expensive- the buyer might think its a con.

You could be selling stuff where there is already 100 of that item for sale thus demand for it isn’t high.

Your item might be too expensive compared to other items.

Also, most people don’t bid on an item during its run but instead bid within the last few minutes of the item that is on sale.

Hi Sammi, I haven’t been on Ebay for a while but I know you can do highlights and bold print letters to increased the conspicuity of your title. Try that. Other than that, apart from advertising off Ebay too, I’m not really sure to be honest. I guess it’s just a case of perseverance. Good luck with the money-making anyways.

People only bid on things that they want so there must be the ‘want’ or ‘need’ factor there first of all. Saying that, you can maximise your chances by :
    (1) A good or interesting title
    (2) A great, clear and interesting photo
    (3) Keep your start price and postage as low as possible.

Before I sell something, I research the site to see if the same or similar things are selling … there is no point putting an item on if there are another 50 or so available and no bids.I have found that certain things always attract attention …. gold jewellery, healthcare books ( especially depression ! ), designer labels and collectables. Saying that it seems harder today to sell stuff than say five years ago …. I guess the credit crunch plus the saturation of the market place doesn’t help.
I have two excellent books on Ebay marketing, including one specifically on loading attention grabbing photos … if you email me your Ebay user name, I’ll have a look at your auctions and perhaps be able to tell you more … I have an email link here. Good luck …

I use to do a lot of ebay. Now not so much. Anyways, I always paid for the gallery option which shows the picture during search results. Make sure you have a picture of the item up close. I used http://www.auctiva.com/ to post my auctions. They are free and many ebayers use the service. They give you free unlimited extra large pictures. They also give you templates to dress up your auctions. They also offer a lot of free services. I’ve never used any of their paid services. Depending on what your selling maybe the selling time is not right for your item. For example If you list your item at 3 am then your item will end in a week at 3am. Not many people will be up at 3 am bidding on infant clothes or whatever. In most auctions, the action starts heating up the last 15 minutes of the auction. It also depends on what day you list the auction. Fridays and Saturdays at 6pm are a bad time because people are out doing things and are not home on the computer. Best day is probably Sunday in the afternoon or evening. Also make sure your description is very clear. You should start with a low starting price. If you are unsure about that then you should have a low starting price with reserve. You should also state the shipping cost and similar information. Another thing to do is search for similar items that other people are selling and use some of their ideas to help you sell your item.
