Selling Wholesale Products on Ebay?

October 17th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

I just got a website full of products to sell on ebay but the problem is that I don’t know what starting price I should put my items on Ebay. For Example: I’m want to sell a Playstation 3 40GB with Grand Theft Auto 4 and a PS3 Network Blue Ray Disc.

Wholesale Price0 : $411.99
Sale Price :$599.99
My Profit: $188.00

I ask this question before and someone told me that on ebay I need to churn items quickly and not worry about profit and if I make $188.00 per item and sell 1 item but if I make $50.00 per item but sell 12 i will make more money. Is this some kind of wholesale selling technique to sell wholesale products and make profits? How will I make more money by selling 12 PS3 systems and make $50.00 per item if the wholesale price is 411.99 per item? Please explain carefully step by step so I can understand it easily.

I think the point they were trying to make is that if you ask $599 for them, they might not sell, but if you ask $461 for them, they will sell. Would you rather make $50 profit per item and get rid of them, or ask $188 profit per item and be stuck with them?

This is all your choice. You can do whatever you want. You can sell them for any amount you want to ask. The person who advised you was just trying to make a point that it’s easier to make a smaller profit than a large one.

That is how wholesale business works. You sell more items for less profit. But there is no one stopping you from selling your playstation 3 for $599.99 and making $188.00 profit on it.

But there maybe others on eBay who would be selling the same product for $500.00 or even less than that, how would you compete with them?

You may also want to consider what is the retail price of playstation 3 at this time. Is it selling for $599.99 at Best Buy also? If yes, then who would go and buy it from you? You are not giving any incentive to the buyer and you would ask them to pay for shipping and also wait for the playstation to arrive.

Just remember this little bit of advice…

Something is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay. So when establishing your price point, make sure the items are not available elsewhere at better prices. Always be as low as you can be and still being happy with the profit. Thats why you are in the business after all.
