    The Antiques Road …
The Antiques Road Show is the grand daddy of all of reality shows with a trash to cash bent. I think it is cool to watch it and when you find something like that in a unit, flea market or picking it is a HIGH. I know when I got my first high end watch out of a units I was blown away at what they were going for!

    Thanks, it can be …
Thanks, it can be an obsession. And you really are trying to help folks in their purchases, good turn should have luck coming your way. One other thing, the Antiques Road Show is another huge training help. If nothing else, I have watched things appear on there that came from garage sales yet I would have personally said, “$30 for that junk?” And that junk, maybe an ugly vase turns out to be worth thousands of dollars. Ask the local library to order the newest price manuals and study them.

Ye you’re right, the thing we have here…. Once a year everyone takes stuff they don’t need from their house ( furniture and stuff like that ) and throw it outside and the poor people just come and take what they need for free :P- the rest gets picked up and goes to the junkyard

    Very thoughtful and …
Very thoughtful and useful video, this will really help folks.

I have gone “late” to estate sales, some that ran as much as the 4th day of a four day sale and found gold watches and other valuable collectables. Never assume it is too late to attend a sale- they may be bringing new stuff out as the day(s) go on. Another thing, even experts can be fooled. A local antique mall got in a lot of costume jewelry. A $10000 cocktail ring was mistakenly labeled $30 costume because it was so garish.

    I saw this video …
I saw this video and thought that you were full of beans. But they say, “don’t knock it till you try it.” I tried it and I’m still having a hard time believing the results. I spent $60 on “junk” and got $1,008.17 back. I need to have my head examined. Thank you! I mean it. They were going to turn off my electric because I didn’t have the money to pay the bill. A friend asked if I won the lottery. I said “No, I found something better than the lottery.”

This is a very inspiring video. So far Ive bought the test kit with a scale for $23 and have now ordered the magnetic ring off ebay for $13. One place that Ive found to be a treasure chest is the thrift stores and Ive had some luck asking garage sales if they have broken jewelry. God bless you and the video bro!

I never had a problem with silver that was easy….but I had so much fake gold every month and I think many folks who owned were ” taken” I heard something similar was going on in Texas with the fake silver.

    HAHA, it’s helped a …
HAHA, it’s helped a lot, down here in Arizona we get a lot of the Mexican “silver” which is really just something that looks like silver and is usually nickel, lead, and other crap. If it’s older it’s very hard to tell if it’s real or not, I find a lot of stamped silver that is fake, and a lot of unstamped that is real that way, Got tired of buying and finding out later. The fake stuff is harder than real silver and easy to tell when you try to scratch the stone it leaves almost no mark.

I’ll let you in on …
I’ll let you in on my secret tip for yard sales, I test, but in a sneaky way. I had a ring made by a friend that does custom jewelery, you can probably find someone to make you one like it for under $30. on the inside is a powerful Neodymium magnet and a small black scratch stone, that is accessible from the inside of my hand. I can usually eyeball gold, but silver can be really sneaky, scratching it on the stone is a giveaway of it’s hardness and with practice you don’t need acid to be 90% sure

    Use the 14K acid, …
Use the 14K acid, if it is gold it will be okay. 18k is gold have a much dark color than 10K or 14K- go to a jewelry store and check out the color difference as a reference point. Once you looked at several pieces of gold you can eyeball whether it is 10K , 14K or 18K with about a 90% accuracy rate.
