    this diesel engine …
this diesel engine is a type with precombustion chamber. The manufacturer says for Diesel oil only. But lots of people use vegetable oil from rape. Start and stop with Diesel and the warm engine runs with vegetable oil. You can save a lot of CO2.
Import is illegal into the USA? It´s a shame. What about free global trade?
We in Germany can buy those engines from India. If you built CHP on a commercial way, you could have problems with emissions, perhaps.
    OR: no complaint, no redress

I sold the engine a few months ago to a person who will drive a circular saw with it.
With the two flywheels this is also a good application.
So, what can I do for you?
Since yesterday I am the proud owner of a big 3,4 liter single cylinder Diesel engine. You can find a first video here on my channel.
The 3,4 liter engine @ 460 RPM and full load on a video? I am also curious for the sound 😉

    …sorry with your …
…sorry with your Metro engine. And 10000 Miles away from India. You know in India are a dozens of Listeroid manufacturers. Wrong manufacturer? Mr. Wichern in Germany made tests with Lister CS clones from different indian manufacturers over the years. And Topland is actually the best. I choosed the most conservative version of that engine: lowest power on lowest RPM, plunger pump, bush bearing, and the piston is of pure steel! Conditions for a long life.

search the web for TOPLAND DIESEL and you will find the manufacturer. Here in Germany the price shipping via Hamburg Harbour is approx. 1000 Euros without tax. For 1000 Euros you get just 700 pounds of Heavy Metal. Not so bad, and the sound is for free 🙂

    Nice Listeroid. …
Nice Listeroid. You are lucky… Your Jib keys are nice and heavy and they stick out far enough to get a puller on them. The acoustics in your garage give the diesel ignition sound (the soft knock) a beautiful tone. My Metro 6\1 came new from India with a “bent” rod (it must have been made that way – I can’t see how it would bend during the test run) . I’m going to mount the Listeroid to a big concrete block and run a generator with it. Thank You for sharing – great video!!

    Don’t You know the …
Don’t You know the movie “Das Boot” by Wolfgang Petersen 1981?
The scene, while Johan (chief machinist) does listen to his diesel with a kind of stethoscope? That sounds exact like your big 1 cylinder.

3400ccm? also 1 cylinder? Woow! I’ll like to see that!! I love slow ruming machines! Bigest one I’ve ever seen was a big Lanz Bulldog (about 10’000cc, 1 cylinder!!) which does smoke rings. That was so amazing!!

    like “Das Boot”?
I hope in the beginning of 2011 I can post a video of my new Slow Speed Diesel Engine with 3400 ccm engine displacement. Compared with 1,4 liters here. Single cylinder!, 600 1/min and 10 kW with my generator.
A bit more close to “Das Boot” …we must wait 😉

    you are half way …
you are half way right! We are lazy and start the engine with that “electric motor”. If all is allright, we only have to give full throttle and the motor becomes a generator!
Thats the trick with those asynchronous motors. As a motor is has 1460 1/min as generator 1540 1/min. Approx. in that case.
