Echo Ohce – Boss SG-1 Slow Gear clone, PT2399-based delay, optical compressor, AND modulation!

December 6th, 2012 Leave a comment Go to comments

The Echo Ohce consists of two independent circuits. The first is an optical compressor based on the DOD 280, combined with a modified clone of the Boss SG-1 Slow Gear. The Slow Gear section has a 3-way toggle switch to change a key capacitor that effects the swell time. Combined with the compressor, this version yields long swells WITH long sustain, even when the toggle is in the “Fast” position. The delay + modulation side is based around the PT2399 delay chip popular among boutique builders. I only had room for 1 chip in this first design, so the max delay time is 580ms. My goal is to add a second chip in the next revision. The enclosure is hand-painted, and I will build only 17 of these. They will go on sale on eBay within the next two weeks (08/2009). Thanks for watching!

    Too bad the delay …
Too bad the delay is digital. Why not use real analog delay? CoolAudio chips work great and they are analog. You can really hear the digital sound at 2:04.

This is not a kit, …
This is not a kit, it’s a custom pedal made by me. You should be able to buy one in February 2011, as both the Blueprint delay & Bumblebee swell pedals that make up this pedal are currently out of stock. For more information, please visit my website, which is listed on my YouTube page.

    Sorry for the extra …
Sorry for the extra slow response. I now use a different YouTube page for all my demos (VFEpedals). Yes, there is a way to buy this from me, by combining the Bumblebee & Blueprint circuits into one box through VFE Pedals’ Custom Shop. However, right now (December 2010) I am out of stock, and the custom shop is closed until February. Just visit my website — which is listed on my YouTube page — for more information.
