Do you send recorded delivery your ebay sales?

New to it all and finding it a bit confusing! To keep postage down I see a lot of people put 2nd class/standard post. But then there’s nothing to stop the buyer saying they haven’t received it there? (and it wouldn’t be unusual for parcels to go missing with post anyway would it!).

I send my items first class and get proof of posting this has always work ok, I buy as well and I think having to be around to sing for recorded delivery is not so convenient. If an item is valuable it’s a different matter.

The best way to do it is to use their postage calculator – all you have to do is weight the item and choose which delivery service you want to send it by, its very simple. You then include on the item listing that it will be sent recorded delivery, that way you have some way of knowing the parcel has arrived, and similarly the buyer has some way of knowing that you sent it – you could just turn round and tell them you sent it but it got lost in the post too, this way you both have some assurance. the buyer pays the postage cost so as long as you put a reasonable cost in for the item people will pay for it, they want their goods as quickly as possible too.

    happy ebaying!

Use recorded delivery and include this in your advertised postage cost. Then the buyer pays.

You can get a proof of postage certificate from the post office. If it goes missing in the post the buyer can then claim from royal mail.

The more expensive items are worth sending recorded, but cheaper items, not. A buyer cannot repeatedly claim not to have received delivery, without it being noticed.
