eBay partial refunds?

Hi, I’m hoping that there may be some eBay geniuses that can help me out with my situation.

Last week, I sold a phone on eBay and a few days later the buyer says he isn’t happy with it and says that I mis-sold it to him. (I accidentally used a sales template which stated that the phone was unlocked, when it wasn’t). The buyer opens a dispute and then says he will keep it so long as I pay for half the cost to unlock the phone. I asked him how much has he been quoted for the phone to be unlocked, he replies with £30.00, so a while later I send a partial refund of £15.00 but the next day he says that the phone shop wants £38.00 and asks me to refund him £19.00.

BTW I know that this guy is just trying to get me to pay the full amount of unlocking the phone, (I’ve asked around local phone shops and the most I was quoted was £20), but, I really don’t care, this guy is a real tw@t and it would be worth the 19 quid just to get rid of him. As he is honestly the worst ebayer i’ve ever had to deal with on ebay since joining in 2007.

But my question is, if I send two partial refunds for this item, can both amounts be accepted or just one? I’ve sent one already for £15.00 but the buyer later asked for £19.00 and tells me he has no option to decline my partial refund. So if I send another out for £19.00 will the buy be able to claim them both, getting a total refund of £34.00?

This guy’s taking the piss. He’s just trying it on. You should just flat out tell him he either has to keep phone as it is or return it then you will refund. No half measures. Any local market stall has people that can unlock a phone for you for a lot less than £30! I personally wouldnt advise you to send him any more money…either he returns it or keeps it… good luck!
