    Okay, I take back …
Okay, I take back my defense of stereotypical food choices but the fact that other countries are so willing to just take the surface of any race and apply what they know from entertainers to a whole group of people still shows that there is a long way to go for people to truly know each other’s cultures and respect them.

    Killer, drug …
Killer, drug dealers, etc. are all played by black men and they may say thts how casting worked out but no.. it’s not. Thats how ignorance and white privelage worked out. So, no, I still dont blame Asias, I just think they need to be less ignorant about American culture. I blame what the United States continues to pump out.

    We do glorify …
We do glorify stereotypical food choices. I remember my korean friend online talking about Dave Chappelle’s grape drink thing. But the thing about ‘they’ in Asian culture is that the entire United States is they to them. Though we may be divided they see us mostly as one. So there are several negative stereotypes at play in not only black media but in the main media ie white media.

    On the contrary, …
On the contrary, though we may present negative images of blacks to other countries, not once have we glorified the usage of black face, and stereotypical food choices. That is of their own doing.

    I’ve been studying …
I’ve been studying up on Asian culture coz I’m going their next and want to know how they feel about African descent people in general. But what I’ve been seeing is that they love the stereotypical black person and even have parodies. Like how we often have FOB Asians with thick accents who are super nerdy in our movies and shows, they actually paint their faces and talk about watermelon, kool-aid and chicken. And I really dont blame them because this is all they see. But that’s not all we are!

    Thank you, someone …
Thank you, someone gets it. For those people who still dont get it, He is talking about how ‘authentic’ African reality is still articulated at the liberal discretion of whiteness and thats we have remained the ‘objects’ of the ill-informed caricatures by the white race.

I meant to say is …
I meant to say is not the place for the white race to comment on black issue

    January 10th, 2013 at 08:51 | #19

For a start is the …
For a start is the place of the white community to comment on what is happening to the black community, because part of what is happening to blacks is the result of white systemic racism. The fact that you have failed to see the message in his message just goes to prove the deficiency in your logic. So let me tell what he is referring to, the message is black stereotypes thats is pushed down our throat by whites.
